IMPROVING THE PLAYER EXPERIENCE – TOPIC: CHEATING & EXPLOITS

From the very beginning of development, our emphasis has always been on the player experience and how good we want it to be. We have great plans for the future of The Division, and for these to succeed we must make sure to provide a smooth high-quality experience. Unfortunately, the gameplay experience was recently impaired by in-game bugs and players violating the rules of the game. In order to bring back a better and healthier environment, we have taken new steps to address the situation.

CHEAT ENGINES

Cheating players have been an issue for a number of you in the Dark Zone, and we’ve heard this feedback loud and clear. We are strengthening our efforts to address this problem, as described below.

First, we have implemented new cheat detection methods that have allowed us to identify many more players currently using cheat engines in the game. We have already caught more cheaters in the last few days than we had in total during the previous weeks. As a result, we will be handing out the biggest wave of suspensions and bans to date over the course of the next few days.

Second, when cheaters are caught, we will now apply a suspension of 14 days on first offense (instead of the previous 3 day initial suspension). Second offense will always be a permanent ban.

We anticipate these two changes will noticeably improve your experience. New upgrades on cheat detection are underway.

Primary:
u should be farming pheniox coins like a madman til you can get the blueprint for the vector smg at the BoO vendor upstairs next to the recalibration vendor.
I forget how many phoenix coins it costs but its a bit under 200.

In order of SMG for PVE:
AuG > Vector > or = Mp5-N

Reason why i say this is AuG may have a slower RoF then a Vector, it typically hits harder and also has a larger mag clip. Of course talents on weapons can shift the ranking, but assuming all had same talents.

Secondary:
Again farm pheniox coins like a madman until you can get the police Mk17 sniper rifle BP. Why this rifle? because it has a good RoF, it has a large magazine, and its very forgiving if u miss head shots a lot. You wont see the 400-500k head shots on it, but you will see good numbers like 200k with a much higher RoF. The only rifle i would pick over this would probably be the Socom/first wave M1A, or a good SRS even.

However those are very hard to come by, and the first wave M1A requires DZ lvl 75 to purchase.

Pistol: do not make the damacus.... i know you will be tempted to make it especially after doing general assembly. But just dont.. its a piece of junk pistol which isnt remarkable at all.

Shotguns:
Not remarkable at all, infact u wont be getting close enough for shotguns to shine against a lvl32 mob as they will tear u apart.

Assault rifles:
some live by them, due to the better range they have over SMG.
However SMG's usually have a 20%+ Crit bonus, hence why SMG's are a bit over powered. You wont have the range as a Assault, however thats why u have the fast firing Mk17 for range fights.

Aug is only going to be better than the vector once you get over 3000-3200 firearms stat. The mp5 is going to be better than the vector if you plan on doing a lot of pvp. And like mentioned, talents and weapon damage rolls are more important in separating these weapons from each other than weapon type alone since they are so close to each other. Also, try to get the skilled talent as your 3rd free stat talent.

The patterns for the 204 weapons that require DZ rank 75 rotate and you are unable to buy a m1a pattern at this time, might change tonight at 8pm est though doubtful.

The only real option for a marksman rifle is the m1a or m44. The mk17 and the like do not hit hard enough to make it viable over an AR. A purple lvl 131 m1a with good talents (balanced and Brutal) is basically better than a HE of any other marksman rifle. The m1a is simply overpowered compared to everything else at the moment. Rate of fire close to the mk17 and and damage close to the m44, it's ridiculous.

Shotguns and LMGS are terrible for practical use but can be fun in some situations.

Assault Rifles are decent weapons but the issue is SMG's and the m1a are overpowered and do a good job of covering the use cases that AR's would otherwise occupy.

They feel a lot closer to week two of the game when everyone was a little more friendly. When each DZ server was populated by 3+ hackers like the last few weeks it made the entire process of farming the DZ tedious at best.

Yesterday during the day the servers had people but were nice and spread out, maybe one other group up in DZ06 with us at any given time. Once prime time hit though it was pretty crowded with many groups competing over boss kills and supply drops.

And we only saw 3 obvious hackers all day. It was a wonderful experience.

I tried out the Navy MP5 from the Phoenix vendor last night. Not a bad gun. The thing I like about it over the Vector is magazine size. Vector hits hard but you need to get an extended magazine just to make it shoot enough to kill more than one mob. So I can use a mag that gave + crit chance and +crit damage with the MP5. Vector also seems to spray more than the other SMGs. But I think the Aug is probably the best SMG out there as well. It has more punch at range. Almost like a poor mans assault rifle but with SMG crit chance.

That is one thing I forgot to mention, the aug does have a greater optimal range than the vector or mp5. It comes in incredibly handy. I run optimal range/headshot damage on my scope for my smg. DPS sheet number may be down but effective dps goes way up.

Thanks. Bought the blueprint as suggested and had enough parts to make one. I got a shitty dmg roll (like 8300, base is 8100). Haven't had much time to try it out, but I will tomorrow.

I very much disagree about using low damage, high magazine marksmans. Even with a lot of ammo capacity bonus on your gear, you're only ever going to be able to hold around 120 rounds of marksman, and a low damage marksman is pretty counterintuitive. I'm certainly not saying go with bolt-action, because those are ridiculously slow at every shot and reloading. The best marksman to use is the M1 model from what I've seen so far.

And before anyone says, you don't need your entire ammo bag prior to accessing each ammo cache, I understand this perfectly well and not saying you do. However, when you start doing challenging dailies and end up with a group that's not very good or trying things a little beyond your reach, you'll be stranded for ammo and stuck with your alternate. Having a high damage marksman allows for a much broader level of adaptability.

It also just makes tons more sense 1 or 2 shotting enemies. That's why I'm still using a freakin' superior M1 marksman over all of the low damage/high magazine marksmans I've gotten plans for and tried.

I don't think so. You probably ran into a hacker with the rate of fire hack. Basically rate of fire is jacked high so you get hit with a million rounds instantly. I ran into that last night, along with some teleporters. Very lame - hope they get bans.

Can you not recalibrate weapons? Bought the vector, but not a fan of it's talents and damage roll. Went to recalibration station but can only recalibrate gear? Need to re-craft weapons to try and get the specs you like?

Indeed. Crafted close to 50 lvl182 vectors before I got a solid one. Have crafted close to 40 of the lvl204 ones and have a decent one. My best advice is to stop when you get two solid talents on your weapon and a good damage roll, that's about the best you can hope for.

The game is a chore to me now. If it weren't for the social factor, I would have completely shelved it. There is something about "smuggling" people through challenge mode missions that they would normally have no business being in that keeps me playing for a bit once in a while.

Most players are responding positively to Ubi's fix announcement but it's even more infuriating to me.

Nearly two months after launch they are promising to fix problems. The fixes they talk about should have been implemented at the planning stage, before they even launched that first E3 trailer.

The way Ubi/Massive prioritize fixes...
Players getting 4 HE items from named boss drops? Fixed within 24 hours! Mission triggers broken, such as locked doors? Still no fix in sight after nearly two months! Players getting consistent HE mat drops? Fixed within 24 hours!
As if skyrocketing mats requirements wasn't enough of a nerf to begin with.

Instead of trying to secure pre order numbers by misleading potential buyers with polished "gameplay" videos at game announcements and empty talk using terms such as "visceral" I want studios/publishers to talk about implementing balance and anti cheat systems at their E3 conferences.
Why is the clothing item variety relevant, I don't care about xyz shoes and scarves, get the game foundation right first!

I only play the SP campaign, but I'm curious. What's you guys' take on LMGs vs other weapons in the game?

I just started using an LMG for the first time, and I'm surprised at how powerful they are. For one, under sustained fire, the reticle gets smaller unlike the assault rifle and the SMG..

You'd expect it to the be the opposite, but that's been my experience. With LMGs, it's easy to get multiple headshots..

And in it, you can see what I mean when I say that sustained fire actually increases accuracy.

It's weird that Ubisoft Massive would balance the weapons in such a way. I'm not a gun guy, but I would think that LMGs would be capable of doing a lot more damage than an assault rifle/SMG, at the expense of accuracy.

My biggest annoyance is when the damn mission doesn't start. What a stupid pain in the ass, keep re-loading groups and matchmaking to try and get the mission to start. Stupid.

I was having that issue last night. It took a lot of attempts to get the doors to open.

I'm a fan of LMG's. I do like my 192 mag M60 which is capable of taking out Elite's without problem. I also like to suppress enemies which is what the M60 excels at.

Is this happening because the talent that gives a chance to replenish a round on head shots? I noticed a few times over the weekend my round meter would register 01, but I couldnt fire, and I couldnt reload. I had to switch weapons to get the gun to register 00 rounds and reload. Really annoying and weird.

LMGs have so much potential. But with the way the game works their biggest asset(suppression) is useless.

The closer you get to endgame the more relevant SMG's and the M1A sniper become, especially if you venture into the DZ. Even then, lv32's barely become manageable, lv34 and upcoming lv36 make teamwork extremely relevant, on top of all the other things you have to account for with health, armor, DPS, crit dmg and other RNG BS.

It's already a joke having to unload an entire extended magazine into NPC's faces. Increasing the difficulty without having frustration grow exponentially is an art ubisoft will never master.

you shouldnt be penalized from a death from a rouge because its BS.
Getting shot in the back when your minding your own business and losing EXP.

It only makes u feel the need to go rouge before that asshat goes rouge on you.

But they really should make it so that the first rouge kill that gets done does not penalize the death on the backstabie.

I dont like the DZ implementation. One thing that may help with the gankings. Allow players to join factions. The story is setup with agents working with the various factions as rogues. That way no more surprise ganks. Every knows who is friendly and who is not.
