An example of the stupidity and shallow nature of reviews is the DVD burner reviews.

They mention media but never state what they are using.
They don't mention what they are burning with.
They don't mention which firmware they are using.
They don't even acknowledge that the quality of burns differs from model to model.
They don't even mention that DVD media is of varying quality.
They ignore the fact that different drives perform better/worse with certain brands of disc.

In other words it was an utterly ****** review, that i knew about the topic before hand was the only reason i knew how poor it was.

Cause AT has a large amount of fanbois posting on the forum. The reviews are generally not biased and they do cover some areas while AT does not cover. It should be mentioned that the most of the reviews of the main site is German and translated to English.

I don't hate it at all. Some of their reveiws are helpful. But they do seem to evince an Intel bias. It's always best to to visit diff sites when checking things out anyway.

I used to like the forums over there a lot. There are quite a few very knowlegeable peeps (crashman, wusy etc.). However, I feel they have ruined it with the recent changes (too d@mn many categories now) and don't go there very often anymore.

No, THG also has a large amount of fanbois, however, AT does as well.

THG forums suck because no one moderates it, although I do not know if they have changed that.

Your post would be so much more clear if you made it obvious who and where you are refering to rather than leaving it to interpretation. Refering to or quoting the OP would also have helped legibilty and comprehension.

Bad: More "general user" oriented leading to not-so-technical reviews. Some of their reviews are kind of "so what"-ish. Their forums SUCK... its user base consists primarily of 15yr olds who know nothing about computers or life.

THG is fine. their video and cpu charts are nice.

reviews are natively german though and some translations can be really bad.

Tom's hardware is ok. They do have a lot of interesting reviews which you tend not to see on other hardware sites. Tom's has had a reputation for being biased towards intel which isn't good but recently they've sounded very pro-AMD since the launch of the X2.

Tom's guy is very creative and get their hand on everything from cpu to nas to moded xbox. How many site is willing to bath the AMD FX with oil? I don't think there is many. Plus their news is alot more up to date than AT.

i dont hate THG, infact i visit it every day still for some articles and go to AT when im done. then i refresh both for news and updates, and keep up with a 3rd dutch website for the rest of the news

as far as their reviews go... some might have botched ways of testing, but as far as i know they all tested the CPU/GPUs or whatever with the same botched settings so they still compare within that graph (just not to graphs from other sites). other stuff like that oil filled case, thats just for fun. cant belive that actually worked. just read between the lines and everything is just fine.

if you dont read between the lines at THG... well... yeah then it could be better. and the intel bias, meh, we know its there so its not a big deal. its actually more fun because sometimes they just HAVE to say that AMD beats Intel because of the overwhelming benchmark results.

Tom's Hardware gives a different outlook on computers. Opinions are universal and only a closed mind disputes this. You can accept to agree or not, but that's where knowledge begins. Maybe, I'm in the minority on this.

THG is good once on a way for reviews, but i do think they are a bit biased.
