that is indeed an awesome album

and i agree with Martin... SOAD's mezmerize/hypnotize duo-albums were amazing
i especially liked soldier side
although its hard to truely enjoy their music on a personal level when i support the war and support bush
but nonetheless, amazing music, extremely talented and truely shows the process of maturing, serj is growing better and better at writing, and daren did a pretty good job too

My Top 5 (there aren't even 10 to chose from) - in no particular order:

Audioslave - Out of Exile
NiN - With Teeth
Coldplay - X&Y
Dream Theater - Octivarium
Oasis - Don't Believe the Truth

^^^ The only one I actually like is the Audioslave and NiN, all the others are just average IMO, but better than all the crappy emo and punk garbage coming out.

I like 'em mostly, but some times their back up singer, or who ever is doing the screaming grates on me.

Are you kidding me?!?! The Plain White T's are still around? They sucked so bad when I was in high school. They where always the crappiest of the local high school bands.

the one with the more whiney voice? yea thats daren
his voice can get on ur nerves, its one of either u can handle it or not
it personally doesn't bother me but i can see how it would
as an 'emo' listener, im used to 'whiney singers' and 'screamers' lol

NIN: With Teeth
Foo Fighters: In Your Honor
Something to Do: 13 Steps to a New You
Reel Big Fish - We're Not Happy 'Till You're Not Happy
Goldfinger - Disconnection Notice

I can't think of any other CD's I liked from the last year, and the only one I really still listen to regularly is 13 Steps to a New You.

Edit: I guess the Something to Do cd was from 2004, oops.

i had been making a joke. i made an earlier post debunking normal emo categorization.

but as in whiney, do you mean the way the voice sounds, or the way the lyrics are? like as in whining about a breakup? lol
at least i can joke about the music i like

again, jimmy eat world is real good, true emo, same with death cab for cutie
hawthorne heights (go somewhat local band of a 3hour away city!, fellow ohioans at least lol ) are another example, although pushing the boundary between emo and alt rock

there are many great bands here in the US that just don't see enough light shined on them to get any further than on more or less indie labels.
and then you get bands like Gorillaz from the UK that really don't need to be popular over here. lol
same with blur (lead singer from blur is with gorillaz, or something like that)

america's music doesn't usually fit in to well with other country's styles, and again, its just there are so many bands here, only a few really get the star treatment, while better bands go unheard of by many.
thankfully, it does look like The Receiving End of Sirens will get a chance to make it large.

personally i wasn't such a fan of Crimson as i was the last 3 albums.

Sadie sounded much better on the split album they did with i think hot water music, than it did on crimson.
