What I did find was not guaranteed to work, so I didn't bother trying it. I also heard that there's some kind of potion in game that allows re-spec but I think that's BS. Sorry to lead to an unsubstantiated hope (for now).

Skill points only, not stat points (whatever.) The command from the console flags your character as hacked, supposedly that mod won't (I haven't tried.) If a character gets flagged the shared stash is disabled.

Why oh why is there no co op in this?

WTF?

The developers have stated that Torchlight is going to be their gateway into an MMO. They wanted to start simple and get something fun out there for everyone. You know how long this game was in development from first concept to last piece of code? 10 months. That's incredible considering that most polished games these days take at least 2-3 years, even if it's mostly a game of borrowed ideas.

The MMO part is 18-24 months down the road, so we all will have to wait awhile for co-op Torchlight.

edit: Also I have to mention that having a canine companion that shoots fireballs and summons zombie pets is kickass.

get your pet a "Heal All" spell
He's unstoppable then as he just takes care of himself (and you as a bonus)

My wolf/dog shoots ice shards and can heal himself. haven't found a group heal spell yet.

I have to say though that the pet AI is a little wonky. I've had my dog on passive and he still goes out of his way to attack mobs a full screen away. I can't even shoot them with my Vanquisher how the hell is that passive Fido?

Has anyone tried to play the demo?? There is a link on steam to download the demo, but it does not seem to do anything when I click on it.

Well took me a week; my guess is 10 or 15 hours. This was on hard and doing a lot of 'extra' levels. It really was fate with some different graphics and a few tweaks (such as item sets) but nothing major.

Titan quest (imho) is much better.

Wow...how long of actual game time did it take?

games pretty fun although pretty easy on the Normal difficulty with my Vanquisher. I started a new Destroyer on Hard difficulty and while its not much harder, I am using way more health potions and my pet is taking a lot more damage.

I should still finish the game with my Vanquisher though.

Titan Quest is more complex, but this game is 100x more fun.

This is a very cool game! I tore through it on normal though using the i dunno sorceror type guy, his pets wrecked everything easily except the end boss that guy took a while. Im going through the game again on the toughest setting with the barbarian type guy, its a lot more difficult, im drinking a lot of pots.

I started on Very Hard with a Destroyer and he's currently about 25 levels down under. It is definately hard going as it seems to be difficult to get a balance between DPS and Armour without using methods which are not cheating but close enough to it imo.

Very Hard on a Vanquisher is pretty easy until you get down to the cavernous levels with those orange and blue lizard-like peoples. Not even maxed (for my level) Explosive Shot and a very big 400+ DPS Unique Gun can save me from chugging pots a lot.

Very Hard on my Alchemist who was playing as a dedicated summoner without using a certain underhanded tactic found it very difficult indeed. I decided that the Imps were useless and skipped them so I had little or no skills until level 10 and even then, he didnt have too much luck. A boatload of +% Minion Health/Armour/Damage/Speed helped on his equipment and level 10 Charm with varying degrees of Summon Skeleton/Archers/Zombies proved useful but many mobs circumvent the wall of summons and head straight for Mr Squishy. Final Boss went down quickly relatively speaking. Once the summons started pounding him, they were racking up shots I saw of over 4,000 damage and he really struggled to kill any of my summons... Maximum Alchemical Golem proved to be powerful enough to last a good few hits if targeted and the IAS/Damage and 'Thorns' buff for the minions certainly told in that battle. Apart from the first boss (no skills) and the final boss (one tough barsteward), every main boss in the game was pathetically and embarrassingly easy.

I have recently started a Destroyer on Easy Mode and passed him a few of my other characters items to help. He did not require the use of a single health or mana potion until level 15. Needless to say, I am having some fun ^_^

Just finished it.
Well "Finished" the main storyline

I've been playing the demo.....playing so much of the demo I'm wondering when it will end. I'm glad the developers didn't skimp here....I'm so sick of getting a few minutes worth of a game with the consoles that still leave you with questions.

^^ I agree, the demo is pretty long and it's gotten me pretty hooked into the game. I think I'll have to pick it up.

i liked the demo too. but not enough to want to buy it as a singleplayer game. the mulitplayer version is coming and will be free with microtransactions. probably a year or more away. i can wait.

To me it is just like FATE with a newer graphics engine and some other tweaks. I prefer TQ at this point although I have beaten the game. Even my 10 year old thinks that Torchlight is "just like FATE"...

IMHO, Torchlight is much better than Fate in many ways. I have been playing for 3 days now, and I'm loving it. Overall, I'd say that Torchlight is just not as good as Diablo 2, the latter being much deeper with much more options available. However, TL is great in it's own way, and it's great for a quick jolt of fun for when you don't have time to play "bigger games". If this game had a multiplayer aspect to it, (Coop/PvP) it's awesomeness factor would raise 2x times.

One of the biggest improvements over Diablo 2 I see here are the dungeon maps that can be bought from a vendor. These are cheap and they open a portal to a random dungeon with a random level. This allows you to extend your adventures by a very large margin and gives you more high level monsters, loot, etc.

Fishing shouldnt be frowned upon either.

My two complaints is that I wish the pet wasn't always with you by default, but instead you could "rent" mercs like in Diablo. The other thing I dont like is that the Alchemist's Skill (Ember Lance) is way owerpowered, making him pretty much "godly" and untouchable. The power hose, the ray of light, the doom laser, the hose of destruction, the beam of death... Whatever you want to call it. It owns.. It obliterates, it cannot be stopped by anything! Even it level 1 it can take care of most of the game easily. The problem with this skill is that it's damage renews every second, and it is linked into a continuous beam where the game checks for a critical modifier on every hit. This results in hundreds of criticals in a very short amount of time. On top of that the lance does knockback and seems to benefit from the added fire/poison/ice/whatever bouses you get from your equipment, although I may be wrong about that last bit. It's simply INSANE...

Not necessarily a huge issue, because you can choose other skills and avoid ember lance to make your experience harder. Also, the ember lance alchemist is great for "farming" items for other characters and other alchemist builds. ; )

I really hope that the PvP element will be finally added in the future, allowing me to "pwn" you all with my "uberleet" toon, again, again, and again. ; )
