Toshiba Tecra 8000 LCD

I have a Tecra 8000 with a broken LCD. Can I use anything other than the prescribed LCD? Would just like to play with it. Might want to try to use the motherboard to build something.

As far as i can undrstand, he doesnt want a replacement LCD. He wants to use the laptop in another way... w/o changing the lcd...

Right, how do I put a different LCD on it? I have seen mods using a laptop motherboard.
