last i checked the current prius has the internal room of a camry. thats pretty big.
as for the diesel, so whatif it costs the same. it has none of the disadvantages of diesel, esp in the us where we really don't care for diesel.

yea and they are all nationalistic with their british cars.. massively biased. esp since they are compensating for the fact that all their car companies have been bought up by other countries

MORE was the word, and if you hadn't noticed the show is for the Euopean Market, not the Diesel-phobic US.
And who owns Chrysler exactly?

I thought is was funny how they dissed the v-10 in the viper for only having horsepower in the 500 range, making some comment like give a european a v-10 and you will get about 100 more horses out of it. Then the next episode had an aston martin 500~ horsepower

Maybe its different for cars but most of the diesel trucks I've been around (either semi's or pickup) stink. I don't think I could ever get used to that smell.

What you see on that display is very misleading. In fact there was an article on MSNBC exactly about how Toyota was inflating the mpg ratio to sell the car. The car was found to have 44 mpg on average instead of the 64 they had advertised. I believe on TopGear they said the same exact thing.
The display is bull$shit. It only gives you a snapshot of what the mpg is at that very moment in time. You might be decelerating at that very moment and the display would show you 70mpg. I had an old 200sx that had something similar and it showed the very same thing on a lcd output.
The Top Gear people hated it because the perks (tax breaks and supposedly low fuel consumption) were absolutely not worth it to get a crap car. The car was found to have very poor road handling as well as a low top speed.

yea, but the prius isn't compact, its big as a camry. its also not diesel, and comparing it to a diesel is pointless, people just don't like diesels in the us. one should compare its achievement to other gas cars... if one is fair and of course its not gonna pay for itself with the savings..but is polluting less really that aweful that one will only bother if it saves money?
and eh, do they use us or imperial gallon there? imperial is like 5/4 us gallon i think.
