Toyota Sequioa

I own a 2012 sequoia. Happy with it, but do not get me started on the touchscreen and rear cam, they suck. Anywho, I've been doing a lot of reading and MOST reviews speak of it as if it's some sort of mutant, hulking, beast of a vehicle. I'm genuinely puzzled as GM makes 2 vehicles bigger, but make no similar description. Is it thanks to ZERO redesigns in like 10 or so years? No clue...

7 years later they seem to have better screens/cams, but in GM-sville nothing is really big cuz so much is, Seq./Tundra ARE big for Toyota... but only until about ten years ago I think. 0 redesigns = refinement.

the sequoia is taller and longer than a Tahoe, so i'm not sure where you think that GM makes so many trucks that are larger? Ford expedition is actually larger in all dimensions than the Tahoe and the Sequoia.

IMHO the sequoia is the most bulbus and least good looking of the large SUVs, and that's why it looks larger. it also gets the worst fuel mileage by a large margin. Toyota has really neglected their large vehicles for the last 10 years.

yes the suburban and Expedition max are longer. the Sequoia really competes with the Tahoe and expedition though.

and throwing in the armada, it is about the same size as the sequioa.

i think those are the only ones in the space, am i missing any?

Suburbans are awesome...if you have that sort of need to haul a lot of people and their stuff while towing a trailer.

Sequoia just looks chubbier cuz of how the body panels are curved. The Suburban is squarer, looks flatter.

The Tahoe is smaller on inside space, by a significant amount, on the outside they do look similar sized. The Armada (I think) is even smaller than the Tahoe, although I'd swear the older models seem larger.
The messed up thing is the GM vehicles second rows are anchored in place, the sequoia allows leg room adjustment.
Maybe compared to toyotas other vehicles , yes it is a behemoth.

My neighbor has one from 2010ish. seems to be a great vehicle for them. they have 3 kids and a ton of crap they haul around all the time. I would definitely consider one (or the Lexus GX or LX) but the gas mileage is terrible on all Toyota V8s. Toyota has been neglecting their V6 and V8 development over the last 15 years and its really starting to show. My IS350's engine first debuted in 2006. It's the current V6 used in all toyota vehicles today. is it reliable and good? definitely, but it needs an update!!! The V8's are in the same page and definitely need an update as well.

Me -- I need a mid-size SUV that is just a tad stubbier than a Tahoe. So far, the "intel" I've gathered on more aspects than just size and appearance suggest a 4Runner. I always thought the Sequoia was just . . . well . . . "bulbous". But I'm not a soccer dad. What am I drivin'? That should be obvious on this forum at the moment . . . And my gas mileage is firm between 15 and 17 mpg.

If the OP is happy with the Sequoia, he should keep it in good oil and be mindful of any timing belt swap-out schedule. My smog-test guy swears by Toyota SUVs, for people who want an SUV, anyway . . . .
