I installed one of these routers at a friend's house, and it worked well. Well, most of the time. Sometimes, it wouldn't hand out IP addresses, unless the MAC was added to the Static DHCP list. Of course, the IP address handed out did NOT correspond with the static DHCP list. In short, the version 1.0 hardware and 1.xx firmware is borked with respect to DHCP.
So recently I ordered another one of these routers, for my own use. It shows as hardware version 2.0 on the back of the box, and the firmware is 2.xx. It looks a little fancier, as far as the graphics that they use on the web interface, but overall, the options seem basically the same. Well, I downloaded and flashed the newest 2.00.22 firmware, and in the release notes on the download web page, they mention something about MAC addresses and static DHCP being fixed.
But the interesting thing is, packaged in with the firmware, is a changelog, and in that changelog, they list the hardware that each firmware release is for, and all of them are for "R1". Which I guess means the first release of the hardware.
So my question is, can I flash the 2.xx firmware to a router that shipped with 1.xx firmware?
