Trouble O/C 2500k

I get the Following message upon startup after completing O/C. " The system has experienced boot failures because of overclocking or changes of voltage. Last settings in BIOS setup may not coincide with current h/w stats.

CPU speed 3.3ghz
Bclk: 100mhz
Mem speed: 1333mhz

I have a gigabyte Z68p Mobo. Ive read numerous threads on here and searched everywhere and cant find a solution to my problem. I'm sure its something minor. I just have absolutely no idea what I'm doing. I didnt change the voltage at all as I read a thread in here that said all I have to do is type in the number into the multiplier. I started at 40 and that didnt work so I went smaller to 35. still failed to boot. any suggestions?

Maybe the motherboard is bad? I doubt it's the cpu itself....cannot remember the last time I've seen a cpu just go bad.

Which mb are you using? I bought a Gigabyte Z68X-UH3D a couple of weeks ago along with a 2500K, threw it together, set the multiplier to 44 as a test and it fired right up and has been running great @ that setting (which produced a mild OC of 4.4GHz) since. Just wondering if the mb has a fault of its own.

BTW.....what power supply, memory, etc., are in your system?

If you reset to factory does it work again? I've gotten that error on failed OC's when I went too high without adjusting the voltage.
Maybe some screen shots of your BIOS settings? Otherwise RMA the board to eliminate it from the equation.

First off, Overclocking is never guaranteed - its a combination of luck and how good your other PC components are, such as memory/cooling/etc. But either way more information would help. Also, you should really do more research. You can't blindly go into overclocking without knowing more about it - you should study up on what the different bios settings are and what they do. You should know in advance what type of voltages to gun for. Overclocking has risks associated with it as well, although the 2500/2600k's are great for oc'ing with a good success rate. But you should still do a little more research IMO.

Anyway for specific help, more information helps. What type of cooling,what specific type of RAM are you using, what kind of PSU, what kind of temps are you getting, what kind of errors and when do they happen, what specific voltages and bios settings are you using, and is your bios up to date. Its hard to say w/o more info.

Its tailored for an asus board but a lot of the principles will apply. BIOS settings are huge in determining how well you can overclock, so you should study what all the settings do in and out.

It actually sounds to me like a BIOS settings that needs turned off to allow overlocking. I know lots of BIOS require turning off certain power saving features.

My old asus board had a message like that if i did not disable cpu throttling or something like that.

....except that with 2500/2600k, most people will enable throttling. Yes, I know that wasn't the case with the old i7's but it is now. Either way he needs to do more research
