Trouble with start up

Per my previous post on my comp getting flooded by a leaky ceiling, I have now fixed it. Sort of. I replaced the mobo and the PSU. I tested everything out before to make sure everything worked. So I got the new mobo in today pieced it all together and pushed the power button. what I got was a little troubling. The comp would turn on for a split second then turn off, turn on then turn off. It will repeat this over and over until you cut power. What is going on exactly? Lol. Thanks for the tips.

That can happen if there is a short, if the board doesn't like your CPU, or doesn't detect a CPU fan.

What motherboard, case, and CPU do you have?

When doing a first boot, make sure you are plugging in as little as possible until later (leave fan controllers, case USB, reset button etc, until later. About the only non-power cable you really need is for the power button.

Make sure you didn't miss a power connection on the board or video card.

Make sure the CPU fan is connected to the CPU fan connector on the board.

So I tried starting up with just the cpu power and the mobo power plugged in. Hit the swith and same problem. Is there a possibility the CPU got ruined as well or am I looking at a DOA mobo ?

OK, assuming connections are correct, might want to see about RMA on the CPU. With so many things to go through, it is a little surprising (to me) that the water would get to the CPU, but with water and lightning, just about anything is possible.

Newegg does returns, manufacturers do RMAs. In your case, you would need to start the process with Intel.
