Malicious compliance. "You can force us to do it...you can't force us to do it well."

This is a hallmark feature of the Trump propaganda media circus where the public relations side of that regime constantly steps on their tongues and marketing feet and face plant themselves in hilarious fashion over and over again. Well sure it works on their dumbed down legions of MAGAts and I guess for them that's all that matters. Yet the rest of the world, and especially so those dictatorships that he's struggling to emulate are laughing their asses off at the caricatures Trump's sect and his Bungling Obsequious Cabinet of Comedic Horrors have made of themselves. And wonder of wonders Trump's slapstick comedy act is perceived by himself and his followers as his being a tough, take no shit brilliant political strategist? If they only knew or cared what they've actually made themselves out to be.

North Korean report on Trump’s parade. Don’t know if legit but they ain’t wrong

That has _got_ to be a parody. Simultaneously parodying North Korea _and_ mocking Trump's parade.

Honestly, again, it seems to me that the amateurishness and half-assed nature of the whole event says something positive about the US, as far as I'm concerned. Quite a relief that it turns out the military isn't really into this stuff. Gives one hope they'll be equally unenthusiastic if ordered to round people up or fire upon crowds.

You vets/actives know as well as I do the order of march in this parade pageant for Trump went like: "Ahhh ten hut!, Riiiggght....face! Forwaaard.... 'harch!....Route Step...'harch! And besides, intentionally being marched for 2 1/2 miles without being outfitted for even a light loadout for battle seemed pretty shitty from a "dressed to impress" point of view but it sure did get a certain point across to the masses. Just another thing that expressed the prevailing displeasure that (to me) came from high up the chain and sent down to the troops that this forced march hijacking of the Army's 250th BDay by Trump wasn't going to get Trump what he wanted out of it.

I'm assuming most of those soldiers were just doing their job, respecting the chain of command, and following orders. Is it documented anywhere that they all volunteered for parade duty, as MAGA warriors?

I haven't encountered a source saying either way.

Thinking about it logically, I believe:
1) The worst case scenario for decision makers in the military would be if a bunch of anti-Trump grunts took it upon themselves to sabotage the parade in amusing ways.
2) I doubt that military decision makers consider participation in the parade to be a necessary function of the Army.
3) Given 1 and 2, therefore asking for volunteers and/or steering the selection process in a way that strongly favours Trump supporters participating seems to me like the best way forward.
