Tualatin's with no CPU fan ?!?

I am upgrading my computer soon, and it will be running PIII 1.26ghz Tualatins. I was doing some research and I found this..

<SPAN class=doctext>So, I got the idea (like in my desktop Tualatin article) to try running them with no fan. I took two copper coolers (SK-6's) and took the fans off and let them run with only a small 5000-RPM 21db blower in the case. The result? 107F under load. The system is so quiet I have hard time telling when it is on.

I was wondering is if Thermalrights' ax-7 fits on a socket 370 chip. If not, what other heat sink is recomended for use without a fan?</SPAN>

Thats the same board I am using. I would recommend a HSF that you dont need a screwdriver to install/uninstall it. I am using two Cooler Master DP5-6I11A. I am also running 4 80mm case fans. The heatsinks keep my cpus at 36-40 degrees at idle and full load. If it werent for the 4 case fans (two of them being sunon high output fans) then it would be relatively quiet. Yeah well first off are you running the heat sinks with the fans? And how do you like the board? Have you found the setup to be fast and stable?

There must be something with the IHS contact. My CeleronT with stock hs/fan registers as 40C/104F on the Asus TUSL2-C with MBM5

I am using a fan on the heatsinks. They are just the stock fans that come with the heatsinks. I do like the board but the manual misprinted the front panel connectors. You gotta switch the connectors from top to bottom, i.e. if the speaker connector is on the top row of the connectors on the board then it should really go in the same place but on the bottom row. I learned this when I visited IWill's tech support facility in the next town over from mine and I inquired about why none of them worked for me and they told me how to fix it. I asked whether or not they were gonna fix it in the manual and they gave me some bs like they had to download acrobat to fix it or something like that. The board has only been out for what...6 months if that?

my celeronT 1ghz runs at ~4F higher than my case temperature with the stock cooler (idle and at full load)..
right now it's 95case/98cpu

i think you have to use a fan on the heatsink with tualatins, unless you underclock to 66 fsb...

If you're going for quiet, use a big heatsink and a 20db fan or lower.

Even via c3 800's requires a fan, or a really big passive cooler.
