I'm getting a new laptop with the Santa Rosa platform. I've read several articles about Turbo Memory and Ready Drive technologies. Most articles only talk about one or the other. It seems like Turbo Memory is internal/onboard memory and Ready Drive is external on a USB flash drive or memory card. Currently Turbo memory can be up to 1GB. While Ready Boost can utilize up to 4GB. Also, I realize that these technologies haven't shown any performance improvement at the moment, but I'm optimistic and believe that performance benefits will be seen in the near future with BIOS and driver updates. So performance issues aren't really what I'm concerned with.
So the questions are:
1. Are Turbo Memory and Ready Drive the same thing? (aside from physical location of the memory)
2. If they are the same thing, would a fast memory card like the Sandisk Extreme series with 20mb/sec read and write speeds be as fast if not faster than on board Turbo memory? Does anyone know the speed of the onboard Turbo Memory?
3. Can the Turbo Memory and Ready Drive be used together? (i.e. 1GB of Turbo Memory and a 2GB flash card)
