IMO, Costco usually has the best deal on turbotax without any rebates. $49.99 gets you federal, state, and e-file (I assume the e-file is just the federal and you'll have to pay a few dollars extra for state e-file as usual with Intuit).
I've also noticed that waiting until Feb or Mar usually brings the price down another $10-$15 and allows Intuit time to fix forms and tax rules, especially if they are in flux.
Costco also generally has the fed only version (at least in my area, where there is no state tax). Don't know if their price on the fed package is the best one out there - I've bought it in past (with a coupon to get it lower), but last year picked up a freebie from State Farm. However, it appears that this year the freebie is available only to SF banking customers, not insurance customers (a 25% discount on online versions for others)...
Turbo tax state filing is probably at least $15 or more, not just a few bucks
The basic $49.99 version is not sufficient for many people, if your employee has a profit sharing plan,. ESPP, stock options, etc... you'll need to get the $79.99 version
I just use Taxslayer.com for my returns. Seems like the best deal out there imo.. As for features I havent been following extensively but it has been able to handle my stuff perfectly just fine!

Not true. My employer does ESPP, stock options, profit sharing, etc. and I use the BASIC version of TurboTax which costs $24.99 normally. Hell I even have a side business and the BASIC one does my Schedule C.
