TurboC 3 sucking up my processor

ok, so this problem i've had forever. i require turbo-c v3.0 for my college work. whenever i start tc3 my cpu usage goes up to 100%. any application that is running in the background comes to a grinding halt. even a task like opening notepad takes forever. i have windows xp pro, i checked the task manager n the process 'ntvdm.exe' sucks up all the processor. i might me wrong but i think it is becoz i have a amd coz in my college there r intels with winxp n there applications seem to work pretty well.

plz help!!!

Try going with DOSBox.

Try lowering the process priority by going to task manager, right clicking the TC entry, and setting its priority to "low"

This will not make it use less CPU time, but it might make the rest of your system more responsive.

That's what you get for running 16bit apps in a 32bit OS... Winxp has a virtual dos machine (ntvdm) which hogs the CPU when u run legacy apps.. dunno why... go to windows task manager and reduce process priority for ntdvdm.exe and u should be OK and ur system will be responsive...
