That really was kind of a stupid premise. The only thing they had going for them were Danny Pudi from Community and Ron Funches from Undateable. I'm surprised it lasted this long.

I liked the premise. Comedy superheroes can be really funny if done well. Both the live action Fox version of The Tick and the BBC series No Heroics were excellent. The problem with Powerless was that it simply wasn't funny. The characters were good and the premise was great. Take a "Better off Ted" workplace inventions parody and sprinkle in superheroes running amok as what drives the inventions. It could be brilliant, but here the writing was what sunk things. IT. WASN'T. FUNNY. PERIOD.

How could you not mention Alan Tudyk? For shame.

Speaking of dead superhero comedies that reminds me, The Tick is coming back in yet another iteration. Amazon ordered a full season of their live-action reboot of the character that they did a pilot for last year. Supposed to air sometime in 2017. I saw the pilot and it was okay. It's taken a turn for the dark, sort of a cross between Patrick Warburton's goofy Tick and new Batman. I liked the older funnier one better, but the new one looks like it will be worth watching.

Humans renewed for an 8 epp season 3.

I can't believe this got renewed, only found out a week or so ago. Don't get me wrong, love the show, but I looked up its ratings and they're horrible -- not great in the UK either. The AMC ratings probably suffered from the broadcast-delay. Americans appear to have watched it before AMC aired them.

Into the Badlands also got renewed this past week, IIRC. It's a fun show.

Sorry Penny, they didn't have the power. Powerless effectively cancelled as remaining episodes pulled from airing.

Hate when networks pull the last episodes from air. At least burn them off in a day or two. They did it with Selfie years ago and I only saw some of the final episodes recently.

Looks like we can write off the entire 2017-2018 season if WGA goes on strike come Tuesday.

meh.. plot holes galore.
plus fat boy is now a kung fu expert?!?!
wtf was he a prisoner in the mines?
I thought the reveal about Bajie was pretty strange. I mean its about as believable as Kung fu Panda. I don't really mind but it so inapposite that it really jerks out of the story. I suppose I'll get used to it but I don't think it was a good move on the part of the writers. If you want appeal to overweight viewers, you don't need to use someone who's morbidly obese.

Bajie a funny fighter, a sneaky fighter, a clever fighter, a dirty fighter, yes. A nimble, mentally disciplined martial artist, no but remember there is a supernatural aspect to this show so chalk it up to that and enjoy the ride.

Fuck...not again...

I'm perhaps the strongest union supporter on these boards...but dammit. We have the last writer's strike to thank for the onslaught of "reality TV" shows that have infested the airwaves...(and stupid people who watch that crap)

so what do you think about unions giving up double time on Sun to match non-union bids on contracts? (sun=time and half, just like sat)

ie: mgm casino in maryland

I've worked it both ways...what I think doesn't matter...it's what the members of that union think.
Personally, while I LIKE getting double time...I'd rather get time and a half for it than not get paid at all.
SOMETIMES, compromise is the best option.

what exactly is the writers' union after this time? Last time it was something about getting credit for their writing wasn't it? Also, I think they wanted writers for "unscripted" shows to get the same benefits as scripted writers. That's what I recall anyway but I could be making all of this up.

The jury is out, unable to deal with the curve ball Fox has cancelled Pitch and You the Jury.

The rise of reality TV was inevitable. The WGA strike in the late 80s might have sped things along, but it was going to happen. The millennials are self-absorbed narcissists who insist on documenting every second their lives even though their lives consist of little more than taking selfies of them accomplishing nothing. Of course they were going to watch other narcissists. TV reflects society, it doesn't create it. We got reality TV because that's what the braindead special snowflakes want. If there was no market it would have died the moment scripted TV came back.

That's too bad. I thought the show was an interesting redo of the classic Wizard of Oz, at least as good as Once Upon a Time.

Selfie kind of surprised me. I recall having little interest when it was coming out because it just looked... cringe-worthy. I don't know why I started watching it, but it was actually not too bad! The characters were really what held it together as they were fairly well done.

Sorry Seattle, there will be no more Sleep(y)ing in the Hollow.

Do you have a particular set of skills? Then prepare to hone them again next season.
