I have a high end gaming system, using a Leadtek A250 nVidia Ge Force 4 4400 graphics card, 256 of DDR 2100 memory, and a 21 ? Monitor. The Monitor is IIYama Vision master Pro, some 4 years old. The system is homebuilt some few months old. It runs windows 98SE.
I have been to Device Manager, and I have TWO monitors listed- the Iiyama and a default monitor.!!
I have reloaded the Iiyama drivers and I removed the default monitor from device Manager. However, when I reboot, the system tells me it has found new hardware and it loads Windows drivers for a default monitor. So then I have two monitors again.
The system runs well for the most part ? almost exclusively flight sims- however, from time to time it will suddenly lose sound (Sonic fury sound card ), and then shortly after that runs very slowly for short while before losing picture and getting black screen.
I then need to re boot, but that sometimes hangs and on second reboot I get Safe Mode.
I need to go into Display settings and change the Refresh rate from ?Unknown? to ?Optimal? and then it will reboot into 640 x 480. Then I can change to my usual 1024x768x 32 with Quincunx AA. I have been running with the refresh rate at 100, which is the maximum shown as available.
Are these matters related;? Any ideas in either please?
TIA
