Which one have you used or recommend? Who's cheapest and what is this Uber XL and what not?
I downloaded both Apps as I may need to use them.

Lurch is awesome, but he changes avatars too often.I liked the previous avatar.

UberPool = Uber with potential strangers at a reduced price
Uber X = Uber with 4 passenger seats
Uber XL = uber with 6 passenger seats at a slightly higher price
UberSelect = a slightly nicer Uber with a minimum of 4 passenger seats car at a higher price
when taking uber's to major events, remember - odds are the Uber will be cheap going in but expensive as fuck going out
No one's used either one?

I have had good experiences with Uber, I score frequently on Uberpool & end up being the only passenger
BTw, the cars I have gotten have been much cleaner & in better condition than Boston taxi cabs, the drivers were friendly & normal! Not have to sit in a smelly taxi with a seat with busted springs after chemo is such a relief.
I'll usually use whichever has a ride closer to me, but I've been using Lyft more lately. I like that they let you tip the driver a few dollars through the app. And Lyft keeps giving me $100 in ride credits each month ($5 off 20 rides), so that almost always offsets the tip for me. That said, I only get 2-4 rides a month -- usually drive unless I'm going out to some place without parking or I'll be having drinks.
I did use a regular taxi last month to get back and forth to the airport though. There is one company here in the Triangle that specializes in airport transit. They are always on time when you schedule a pickup and the booth at the airport is just as easy to use as a ride sharing app. Pricing is about the same for that too.
I've used both. I prefer Uber because I can Uber pool and it's like $3. I don't know if Lyft has added that option as it's been awhile. I've heard drivers get paid more from Lyft, but I don't give a shit about them; get a real job. Both are terrible companies who can't compete with Taxis on a level playing field anyway.
this is true, but their end game isn't to compete with taxi service--it's to wipe them out and control the automated car rental industry which is inevitable, and will be a cellular network level of game changer. Uber is already rolling out their driverless service in Pittsburgh. I think the current projections are ~10 years for near full-automation in major metro areas, but I bet it's really going to be taking hold 5 years from now.
Ford is also ahead of the game when it comes to rolling out level 4 automated cars, and their target is 2020 (they've been developing them for more than 10 years now)
Uber and/or Lyft--or perhaps some upstart like Juno that is basically steeling Uber's mojo--taking their drivers while piggybacking on all of the legal mumbojumbo and R&D that Uber has invested in are pretty much the only game for that tech.
This is untrue.
