Looks like BornStar turned in another 4000 point day today!
Hey Fingers, are you maximizing the points for the results you return?
I learned this trick from Memnochthedevil.
You have a little control over the points you receive for your processor and network score. The other two will remain static. You have to use a caching program like
UD Monitor.
I was amazed when I saw TA members getting crazy points like 10,000 for 3 WU's. Memnochthedevil explained it. He is (was) running multiple projects on his system, but before he would let his UD results return, he would shutdown his other tasks giving UD control of his system when it benchmarked and returned results. The benchmark would show high results for his procesing power and determine that he was processing difficult results since the length of time to process them was so long. (the agent uses some formula of processing power x processing time for calculating points)
Your network score can be maximized, if you have broadband, by sending results when internet traffic is low. Mine tops out at around 179 or so.
Here is how I have my main box set up:
Running UDMonitor I have 12 WU's in my cache. (This was 2-3 days worth of units)
I set it up to go to the next work unit instead of sending in it's results.
Everyday, when I get up to go to work, I send in results (3-4 AM CST (GMT -6:00)).
This mazimizes my network score barring other network problems. During this time I make sure I have no other apps running, so my processor score is maxed.
You also get a side benefit from cacheing. The occassions that the servers are down, you get to continue processing since you are getting more work from your stored cache.
Also, if for some reason you have processed all you work units and have no more in your cache, you can set it to send/receive all cache slots to refresh you cache when it can connect.
