Hey, would the Realtek ALC889A integrated sound card be better than a Sound Blaster Live! 24-bit? It's a cheap sound card that came with my Dell about 4 years ago when I bought it.

the new onboard should be better, and you dont have to use creative's drivers.

I can't answer your question, but, the 8111C isn't an audio chip, it's a LAN chip. If you have a 8111C on your motherboard, then likely you have an ALC888 or 889A on there for an audio chip.

I believe that is a Realtek ALC889A codec. I agree, the on-board audio is not bad these days...
How do you like that board? I am seriously thinking about springing for one.

Ah yeah it's the Realtek ALC889A sorry. Brutus, I haven't built my computer yet.
