I personally dont have it but a couple of my friends do. They all love them.
Some people hate them, some people love them.
If you search on google for reviews, almost every single review has good things to say about it.

I bought one just the other day. Right now it's powering my current system:

Asus A8V Deluxe motherboard
AMD Athlon 64 3500+ 90nm
BFG GeForce 6800GT OC
1gb dual channel ddr 400 ram
3 case fans, 1 optical drive, 2 hard drives

So far I can't complain. It's quieter than my old pizojunk, but certainly not silent. I read a lot about it before buying. Many on this forum will tell you it's a powmax, it's junk, yadda yadda. They may be right, but in the end I went with it because of all the good reveiws - I trust them over a bunch of people who've never even seen the unit. There's no single review out there which is complete, but there are enough of them that together they cover all the important factors. The only bad thing said was that it's not silent, which is something I can live with.

I like the modular design. Wish Antec, or Enermax, or someone like that would create a modular unit.

Antec dose, it's called the Neo Power. It's expensive but built about 10x better the the X-Connect.

i think i like the ultra better, looks like all 3 power leads for the m/b (including that 6 pin that no one ever uses) are connected to the psu, so you can't take them off. also a lead that goes to the mb for fan monitoring which i wouldn't use either. interested to see what ocz will come out with.

This came up before.....It's my understanding that Powmax is buying these from Ultra and rebranding them. Not the other way around.

i've never seen anything that says they aren't quality. in fact the reviews seem to say otherwise. the only people i've seen saying anything bad about this psu is a few guys on here that don't even own them.

and in this case, since i'd be buying a psu that i'd pay a lot more money for to clean up my case, the flash is as important as the performance.

Definately wait for the OCZ. That will have 26A on the 12V rail as compared to like 22 for the Ultra and 20 for the Neopower or something like that. Also OCZ is basing it off of the Powerstream so it is going to be top teir. IMO i think it will be top o' the line with Antec at its heels and Ultra right below that.

The main thing I like about Ultra PSUs is the removable cables. Since I have a BTX form factor case, cable management is VERY important to me. I use an Enermax 460w right now, and I have cables everywhere. Wish I had paid 25 more bucks for the X-Connect, but I'm certainly not dissappointed with the Enermax.

Sleeving + Electrical Tape?

I didn't have any trouble with my Enermax and cable routing - but of course, I'm ATX.

Yeah I used a bunch of twisty ties and zippy ties to get things together, but still, removeable cables would be infinately easier.

Do you have an X-Connect? If not, like qp was saying, I don't think you should make opinionated judgements about products you don't really know about first hand. It's unfair to people looking for opinions from owners of the product, who are really the only people who can fairly comment on how good or junky it is.

LIKE 22?? What the hell is wrong with you guys? I would expect people who have been on these forums for so long and have so many posts to make more educated, informed opinions about products. If you actually did 30 seconds of research, you'd know that the Ultra PSU has 34A on the 12V rail, 30A on the 5V, and so on. Jeeez.

Take a look at the internals of the Ultra; small components, heatsinks and horrible internal wiring, believe whatever you want but that?s not how you make a quality PSU.

thanks but your false negative opinion isnt needed. Currently I am powering 2x Ultra 160 Scsi hard drives, Mylex U160 Raid controller, 200gb 7200rm Seagate, BFG 6800 OC, TDK CDRW, 5 Case fans, Watercooled setup.

The only thing I don't like about the psu is it's noise.. it's a bit noisy for my taste but it's not that bad... you can always buy 2 quieter 80mm fans and replace em.

Stick your hand on the PSU chassis near where the fan exhausts. When the computer is under load, does it feel noticeably warmer than the rest of the case? Even better -- how cool is it at idle?

I've had a lot of "decent" PSUs, not always the most expensive ones. I've had one crap out on me and fry my motherboard, too. There IS something to be said about the internals. What sort of warranty do they offer? If it's only one year -- and my ALLIED AL-B500E has a one-year warranty, that's not a big commitment based on the manufacturer's confidence. I've been watching these things since they went on the block for $120 at FrozenCPU, and wondering what they were like. they sure invest a lot of effort in LEDs and windows. It doesn't prove anything, one way or the other, but Whyizzit?

I'd get a better PSU -- selecting by the length of the warranty period -- or reviews -- or other matters of reputation -- and then get a "modularizing" kit from FrozenCPU so you could have the same features ---

if . . . . . as at least one person here asserts . . . . the internal quality ain't all that great. How are the voltages? All within 2% +/- of spec?

Ok sorry...I'm not trying to start a flamewar...it just seems like a number of elder members on these forums are bashing this PSU for not much reason at all. I just think it's a good solid product and if you haven't used one, you shouldn't put 'em down. I'll let it go now...
