I am really looking forward to this game, the demo completely sold me, and IGN's review only makes me want it more. Sadly, I likely won't be purchasing it on launch, as I gotta get Rock Band. And the score and game-added PCM 5.1 soundtrack just demand, well, 5.1, so playing over winter break when I go home wouldn't be the same, as my surround sound is staying in the dorm due to the hassle of moving it. I think I'll ask for it as a christmas present and play it when I get back to the dorms for winter quarter. Maybe I'll pick up Mario over break, and between that and Rock Band, I'll be more than set.

I definitely have enough games to play through right now. i think i'm going to try to find it used for like $30 or $35 in a month or so. I wasn't too sold on the demo but I liked it enough that I would play through it.

I still haven't really touched Ratchet and Clank in over a week That game kicks ass and I have that to finish still.

the reviews seem to be agreeing on the controls/gunfighting as being a refinement of the Resident Evil 4 and Gears of War mechanics. I'd agree. I've pulled off many headshots, but if people are running and throwing nades and shooting me from every direction, that occurs a lot less often.

do you have a PS3? download the demo. I saw you made another post about a video and the controls not seeming that great to you, but have you played it? You show interest in the game, so I don't know if you have the system or not.

Nah, I dont have a PS3 yet... it was one of the games I was studying hard though as for a reason to pick one up. I may have to wait for another great title, but this one seems to be a step in the right direction... hmm, maybe Mommy and Daddy will hook their little 30 year old up for his birthday?

Well, I just went to my local Hastings, and they already had the game in the case and rental copies on the shelf. Instead of buying it, I went ahead and rented it (7 days for $5, $0.50 per day late afterwards). I'll let you guys know what I think of it.

I want the game, but I probably won't pick it up any time soon. Just bought Super Mario Galaxy and Assassin's Creed, and then Mass Effect (AFAWOIFHAWOIFH!!!!) is coming out in a few days, which I am overly excited for.

Also, once my girlfriend and I get done with Guitar Hero, I am probably gonna get Lego Star Wars and Resident Evil: UC as games for us to play.

Well, I only put 20 minutes into this just now (have to clean for a party tonight), but wow is it awesome so far! I love how they are telling the story, the voice acting is top notch, the graphics are absolutely amazing in HD, and I can't wait to see what's going to happen next.

I should probably go back and put down the $60 on it instead of just playing through a rental.

I've played up to Chapter 4 (the demo level), and so far it's amazing. I'm loving this game. At this point, it reminds of when I first played the first Tomb Raider way back when.

Well, no one seems to care about this one around here . I put in a couple more hours tonight, and this is easily the best PS3 game out for the system. So far, this game is worth buying the system for. My only complaint right now is the enemy encounters can be a bit of a drag when you just want to explore. Also, I hate that convenient, red exploding barrels are everywhere....they are so out of place, and were only put there so you could complete the puzzle. I've ran into this about 4 or 5 times already, and it just feels stupid.

But there have been some moments in this game that were spectacular. I just got done with a driving/shooting section, and it was amazingly well done. Fast paced, good dialog during the hectic chase, and a great ending. The exploration has been pretty good, although the game is linear. It's cool that they've "hidden" treasure around for you to look for. I also like the in-game achievement-like system that unlocks special stuff as you gain points. It's on a scale of 1000, and as you earn medals (I've gotten some for headshots and other things), you unlock videos, galleries, and stuff that actually affects the game. Some examples is the ability to completely mirror and/or flip the game world, play in black and white or sepia (another option is called an advanced filter, but I haven't unlocked it yet), get unlimited ammo, and other stuff. It's really a nice incentive to find hidden treasure and earn medals.

Overall, as of right now, this game would easily contend for GOTY in my book. The controls are easy, the graphics are out of this world in HD, the dialog and voice acting is superb, hidden treasures and medals are a nice diversion (and worth getting), and the story so far is highly interesting and often funny.

I'm still surprised nobody here is talking about this game. After the past couple of days of not having time to play, I finally put some more time in this morning, and am to chapter 10. I still think it's fantastic thus far, and by my calculations, I'm about halfway through the game. I'm going to try and have it beat by the end of the weekend.

Played the demo last night, omg, this game kicks ass. Unfortunately, I've bought a lot of games lately, so I'm going to hold off for now, maybe I'll mention it to the wife as a potential XMas gift. I definitely plan to get it at some point and play it though, the demo was like crack, and I was sad when it was over.

if you break it down, almost all games follow that structure or are equally as repetitive. it's how you break up the mundane that makes the game good or not: introduce plot twists, just have a good story in general, or have different gameplay elements at some point (like the jetski moment, and I think there are others).

I'll probably be getting the game for christmas. Rock Band wiped out my ability to buy any more things this month.
