ok i built my uncle a computer a couple months ago...2000+ epox 8ka3e. The temperate of the cpu was 65..im like hmm, this is high...so i literally just wiggled the heatsink and it went down instantly to 55... and stayed around there, so i didn't think much of it, and left it alone. Now i just went over to his house...and theres TONS of dust in the heatsink so ill clean that out, but the cpu is running at 80!!!!!!!!!!! Its been running 70-80 for atleast a month now. Now im sure if i clean the dust out it will probably go down to the 60's, because there is like 2 inches of dust in his heatsink. However even 60 is high..my question is, are the temps being read wrong? or is it truely running 80. The thing is the computer is COMPLETLY 100% stable. If it was truely running 80, wouldn't it be crashing like crazy? and very unstable..its just the amd heatsink with pad..but thats all my computer has and it runs low 40's. I think it also has to do with case fans, he only has 1, also the powersupply fan and rearfan are in a cabinet pressed right up against a piece of wood, so i imagine the fans aren't doing their job at all..i need opinions plz..hes going away for a week so ill look at it then...im just thinking if it was truely running 80..it would crash insanely...and maybe be dead already after running like that for months, i also felt the base of the heatsink and mines kinda closer to cold then warm..his heatsink was redhot...
