Undeletaable adware *aaargh*

I've ran through the stickied guide about virus,spyware,adware etc. in this forum but there is ONE adware i can't delete for some reason. The annoying pestilence have the misleading name "abetterinternet" and is slowing down my system alot. How do i demolish this pain in the butt from my computer and prevent it from constantly coming back?

Any good ideas appreciated!

Have you attempted scanning for spyware and viruses in Safe Mode?

Hmm that guide doesn't look bad! I'll try some of the stuff he mentions.

Yeah i have tried to delete the pestilence in safemode btw but it keep showing up.

You my friend, unfortunately, have Aurora. One of the worst adware out there. It's very difficult to remove. I have removed it but it's a bitch. I have found that after running my standard spyware cleaning procedure that Aurora can usually be removed by running Pest Patrol Corporate afterwards. There's a link to a free 30 day trial in my guide.

Lately I have been told by friends in the IT industry that they've had very good luck with Spyware Doctor removing Aurora, and there should be a free trial available.

My personal favorite, and one that I think everyone should check out, is the BartPE disc.

It allows you to make a bootable rescue disc off of a Windows install cd.
One of the modules you can select to include is Ad-Aware, another is McAfee AV.
This is EXTREMELY useful, as it lets you boot totally independant of any system files,
and so it lets you get spyware and viruses that have themselves entrenched.
This is one of the most useful tools in my box as a computer repairman.
I think this tool would be a good addition to the sticky!

Thanks alot for pointing out what that pestilence is called! I tried following your step by step guide and it didn't remove it so i'll try those programs as well.
