As a remote guru, I'm going to disagree with everyone here and NOT recommend Harmony. Cheap hardware, limiting software, and they've actually taken out features (sequences, in particular) over the years. I can't support a company that literally removes features from their products.
The Universal line-up is aweosme. the R50 is under $100, and while not programmed on the computer, has a color screen and full support for macros/activities, just like the Harmony. The IR transmitter is MUCH more powerful than any Harmony, and offers better flexibility of pages on the screen. I don't see any reason to choose a Harmony over the R50. If you're looking for something a little higher-end, the MX-series of Universal is great, albeit the programming will take you a few hours. That said, the possibilities are endless, and investing a some time into it will give you a remote that is much more powerful and more importantly, reliable, than any Harmony model.
