Just bought the game.
I noticed on the UT stats page they have a game called InstaGib

What is this? Is this a mod/addon for UT2k4?

It's a mutator.

You shoot someone -> they blow up instantly. Hence InstaGib.

This mod was all over UT2K3 like skank on Anna Nicole Smith. A huge number of servers kept running Instagib + Lowgrav, turning the game into an awful snipe fest.

The guy who made the Onslaught Instagib tried to keep things pretty fun and fair, as for the other flavors of Instagib for UT2K4 I'm not sure on.

One hit kills shock rifle. Unlimited ammo. Everyone begins with it.
