Hunting for food, cool. Hunting for "sport", lame.
Took the words right out of my mouth.
Unless you are hunting lions with a knife, it's not a sport
But it sure would be intersting

How the hell did you kill a deer with a shotgun? Much less that far away? Were you using slugs or something???

Easy, point and shoot. I'm guessing with a slug, even coarse buck shot is gonna spread too much at that range.
Just talked to my dad yesterday, he went chasing elk in a reserve in Western Maine the other day. Found one in a group he liked, but they made him as he was anglin for a shot. On the way back he took a fallow, just shy of 200yd. with a .243 Not too big though, I think he said a buck fifty dressed.
Congrats on your first deer, Rip. Good shooting. Not bad for a shotgun.Originally posted by: Riprorin

2 types of people: those who wish to comply with the hunting laws of certain states, and those who can't shoot. Slugs have a fair amount of arc to them for long range shooting, so either rip here can shoot or got pretty lucky.
How big was it anyway?

I live in Western NY so only shotguns are legal for deer hunting.
It was a small doe. I'm guessing about 150 lbs.
What do you mean luck, of course it was skill!
I only went to the range once with the gun and I only put around 8 rounds through it, so I was please with myself, especially since I've never take a harvested a big game before.

Got nothing against hunting or gun ownership, but I think you are a tool, so here's to hoping you slip a disc while cooking your venison steaks

Way to go fcukwit. Maybe next time you can shoot one of your friends, I hear that's popular. Or even better, they may shoot you.

Yeah it's best to let them over populate and die of starvation and disease that accompamies over population.:roll:Originally posted by: MmmSkyscraper

Yesterday, but there's plenty of meat in places called shops/grocery stores/whatever. There's no need to run around with a gun wasting wild animals and creaming your pants about it (unless you're retarded). Some achievement killing an animal with a shotgun, does he want a medal?
Go one on one with a bear instead. That'd be a good pay-per-view, not very long but guaranteed to be funny.

Ever see the conditions your typical for-meat animal is raised in? Killing and eating something that lived in the wild is relatively "more moral" in the grand scheme of things.Originally posted by: MmmSkyscraper
