Busmaster11,

I apologize for contributing to taking this topic way OT.

My final thoughts on the situation are this. Do what your heart tells you to do, but pay attention to what your Uncle needs and wants. You love him and he knows that so present your concerns to him and tell him you fear for him in the after life. But remember that the decission is his and his alone. If he doesn't want to convert respect that and help him live his final days as best as you can.

Take the egos elsewhere please.

busmaster11:

Do NOT feel foolish about what you are trying to do. There is a heaven and a hell - do not doubt this. This is a battle for your uncle's soul. Do not let doubts and people distract you from what you need to do. Have Faith! (Mark 9:24) Pray that your uncle's heart would be opened and that he would accept Christ as his savior. In the end, it is your uncle who must make the choice - no one can force him, he has the free choice. Only God can change a person's heart and you need to continually seek him, asking that he would save your uncle and open his heart.

There is no doubt that God can save your uncle through this type of situation - I've seen it happen many times. But in the end, it is his choice. If you truly believe in the Bible and what Christ has said - the condemnation of your relatives and the possibility of "wasting your uncle's time" can not be considered as legitimate. To stand up for what you believe, to try to save your uncle from hell - this is Faithfulness and integrity.

Depend on God for strength. Ask for wisdom, the words to speak, the opportunities to speak with your uncle.

"Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go." Joshua 1:9
I'm sorry but this isn't a Christians only Forum.

Red Dawn, I will pray for you.
Just don't do it on my death bed or I'll take you with me!

I'd like to see you try.

If you're not a Christian, I ask that you abstain from posting detracting remarks here, for you may not understand why some of this is important to me...

Red Dawn, Ausm... Do you not respect Busmaster? You can't respect his wishes? And you say we try to force religion down people's throats...

We will, leave this thread.

You call us zealots for trying to force our beliefs on others. Busmaster is a Christian. You are trying to force your Non-Christian beliefs onto him, Hypocrite.

Nt all, in fact most Christians don't. When you post that I am the Devil's tool you think that I'm not going to respond? When I made my first post in this thread another "Christian" replied that he thought that my POV was wrong and I got into a debate with him. Just because I don't happen to be a Christian doesn't mean that my POV wasn't valid, especially when I am speasking from a POV that isn't a Christian..one that his dying uncle propbably has since he's not a Christian. Don't you think that it's a POV that he should hear since it will be a Non Christian who he is thinking of trying to convert on his death bed?

Did busmaster ask you not to post in this thread? I believe so. Are you not respecting him? Yep. Are you doing exactly what you claim us "Fundies" do. Yes. Hypocrite.

Honestly, looking at what you just wrote, how can you not understand when christians share their opinon about christ?
Can you not see your own double-standard?

Well my family is about 95% christian, so i belive i have enought umm 'background' to qualify for this thread.

Even though i myself am not christian, i suppose i could relate to the situation.

What comes to my mind is the fact that even though you believe that Jesus is the only true way to heaven/happiness, your ouncle might be as positive that Buddhism is the only true way to nirvana (vrutally same goal). Now the fact in question is, how do you know which one of you is right? This is where faith comes in i suppose - in the big picture neither one of you 'know' that you are right, but rather believe that you are right and this give you sense of direction in life. Now if your ouncle lived his own way the whole life, why try to convert him at the last minute so to speak? To me religion or lack thereof is a subjective thing, everyone has their own beliefs that they go by. Acknowledging the other persons faith, as wrong as it may seem to you, is the definition of respect.

It seems to me that you are as guilty as you claim any of us as you respoind to our posts calling us Hypocrites. You also do your fair share of Atheist Bashing yourself.

Wow... you leave for 30 min and this happens...

Anand need only to read this thread if he ever thought about getting rid of his mods...

LethalWolfe - your objectivity seems a little over the top. If you believe in something, it may or may not be reality, but it is by definition true and factual to you. If I believe in the Christian God, I cannot and do not believe, therefore will not respect, any other religion.

Thanks to everyone who participated, and to Red, for lending to my wishes...

I have a fair idea what I should so, but with a couple notes - at the advice of some, I'm not going to (nor was I intending) force anything down my uncle's throat. I will encourage him, pray for him, and give him my testimony. I will also let him know why I believe and love my God, and ask him to accept Jesus into his heart. If not, I'll pray about it and leave it at that.

I believe it is ultimately God's decision to save him or heal him or not, but it is my uncle's decision to accept God or not. God cannot and will not make decisions for you.

I'll be monitoring this thread for flamage (Dawn and Ausm are in fact amusing; but much more so if it was another thread.) and for actual useful advice.

Consider the a contrasting statement, "Just because I'm a christian doesn't mean my pov is invalid."
Wether valid or not you seem to consider your opinion important enough to share with the rest of the class.

Don't you think that it's a POV that he should hear since it will be a Non Christian who he is thinking of trying to convert on his death bed?
Here you are assuming what other ppl think should think... thats an uh-oh. christians assume (hope) that people are curious about god and would like to know more. can't do that. But really you aren't assuming here, you are going to say whatever you want and screw anyone who disagrees... am I not correct?
Please tell me what the difference is in you expressing an opinion and someone else expressing an opinion.

Hypocrite? LMAO I am an Hypocrite because I post what I believe in?!!?!?! Well you Holy Rollers have no trouble jamming down our throats what you believe in.

I have to work with a couple of holy rollers and they are constantly leaving literature on my desk.

I consider religion to be an organized cult ... which sucks in gullable people like yourself.

I am a realist.

I believe in a public forum I have just as much right as you do to express my opinions and if you don't like them well that's the way the ball bounces.

Personally reading this thread made me want to projectile vomit...Religious Zealots and holy Rollers really piss me off.

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why is this so hard to understand?!!!!?
You are a hypocrite because you complain about people preaching their message, while you do the exact same thing!
What is the difference in telling people God is Love and God is Dead?
Ostensibly nothing.
This is the point you fail to catch.
Seriously I understood this when I was 17.
Try to look at your situation from outside of your philosophical box.

Obvioulsy he's a great amount of pain and suffering due to the nature of his illness and it would seem to me to be rather cruel to bother him now just because you happen to believe differently than he does.

Red, you are a good person in your own way. If I was not a Christian I would tend to agree with you. But the fact of the matter is, I believe (whether its true or not is up to everyone's own interpretation) I am witness to a higher authority that you don't. If you can think about that statement for a second, you will come to one of two conclusions:

1. I'm a wacko, in which case it is pointless for you to persuade me and thus you might as well leave...

2. I'm right, and if there exists the God of the Bible, I need to do what I am discussing here.

right?

Yes you are a hypocrite. Since you fail to see the obvious, let me paint it in black and white for you. You flame us "fundies" "Holly rollers" and whatever other names you want to call us, for posting our beliefs in Christianity. In this case we are posting our beliefs within a thread that asks for them. You claim we cram it down people's throats, when busmaster asked for our help on this situation. He asked for a Christians perspective. Now you come in here and literally cram you beliefs down our throats. Yet you have the nerve to flame us for supposedly doing the same thing you just did? Yes, you are indeed a hypocrite.

Oh and btw, I consider you to be a member of a cult as well. Unorganized, but much more dangerous. Society's Cult of Satanism.

I hope it's ok to respond to your post since I'm not a Christian.
