Upgrade Itch

I have some cash to spend on an upgrade but I can't decide on what to do. Maybe you guys can help me. This computer is used for gaming. Budget is 200ish dollars

Options...


19 inch Samsung
Thinking of upgrading to 22 inch

Antec Earthwatts 500 power supply
Not sure if its safe enough for my gtx260 192 core, havent had any problems for 3+ months though

E6300 @2.5 (not able to overclock it any higher)
Wanted to get a quad core, yes I know dual core is better for gaming right now

Or should I just save up for an i7 setup?

1) GTX 260 is plenty strong for 19/22" screens.
2) EA500 gives enough power to run two GTX 260s if you happen to want to...so you're fine there also.
3) What motherboard & cooler do you have? Most e6300s will hit 2.8-3.2 without much problem as long as the rest of your gear is up to the task. Might consider a Xigmatek S1283 ($27AR at newegg) or an EP45-UD3R motherboard if your CPU is holding you back.
4) So if nothing else, a 22" screen would be nice - but I've seen 24" screens for just over $200, shop around before you buy. Keep in mind the screen can last through several system builds while a new cpu/mobo/etc probably won't.

I have an ASUS P5QL Pro P43 mb with stock cooler. I am pretty sure the motherboard is preventing a higher overclock. From what I read P43 is not good for overclocking.

My p43 overlocks my E6300 just fine.
