upgrade processor or ram?

I'm currently looking at a system:
Antec P160
PC P&C 470W
MSI K8N NEO4 Platinum
AMD Athlon64x2 3800+
2GB OCZ Value
eVGA 6600GT

I'm wondering whether it's worth getting the x2 4200+ and 1GB of memory instead, opting to upgrade the memory later. Personally, I prefer upgrading memory rather than having to upgrade the processor...

Is the 1GB (2pc 512Mb) OCZ Value considered decent memory?

right now its better to get a 1024 stick if you are just going for 1gig of ram. it's better idea to keep the 3800/2gb setup since the 3800 can reach 4400 speeds relatively easily. yes, ocz is good ram, but any value ram from corsair or kingston, or whatever will still be fine since amd doesnt depend on cas latency that much.

If you're desperate for dual core (I'm not), I'd go with the 3800+ and 2 GB now and get the X2 5000+ several months after it comes out next year. I'd also get a Geforce 8 and your machine will be screaming! (But reasonable prices for both are likely 18 months away.)
