Upgrading Dell 4100

I have a Dell 4100 with a Rage 128 Pro and a 200 W power supply. I want to upgrade the video card so I can play some of the new games on the internet. I was looking at this card.

Radeon 9250

My questions are: Do I need a new power supply to run this card and is this the best card for my system. I am on a budget and don't want to spend a lot of money updating this older computer. Thanks.

A Dell 4100 shouldn't need a power supply for a basic video card, which is what a Radeon 9250 is. I don't think you'll have any problems.

Your PSU should be fine for this, or even a Radeon 9600 or 9600XT.

If you can get a Radeon 9600 used in the FS/FT forum for under $50 shipped that would be a much nicer upgrade for light gaming.

Or buy new a 9600XT at $60, it's twice the cost of the 9250 but it's also twice as fast:

Thanks for the response guys. The recommendation for the 9600XT is a good idea but I saw in the specs it needs a 300W power supply. So it'd be at around $100 for the card and power supply (60 for card, 30-40 for power supply + shipping). Was a little more than I was expecting but is this correct if I go for the 9600XT?

Dell underrates their power supply. Your PSU is fine and could handle the 9600 XT fine.

My thoughts exactly. It's for a friend, he doesn't have the money to do major upgrades and wants to be able to play games online so I'm trying to find him something that's cheap and effective.
