Don't forget that the Geforce GTX 550 Ti comes out on what, March 15th or so? This card is suppose to offer better than GTX 460 performance for around the same price you now pay for a GTX 460 after rebate I believe.

Here's a video on my gigabyte gtx 460 OC cooler that was not sufficient for overclocking the gtx 460 ~> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZFUdyciaz-c
Well, you're comparing the Windforce 2X to an Accelero Xtreme in that video. No contest, the Accelero is going to perform cooler and likely quieter. They're fantastic.

But its also a triple-slot cooler with three 92mm fans which comes with additional heatsinks for the memory chips and VRMs, and which retails for about $60-70 on top of the price of the card.

OTOH, the Windforce 2X is a great cooler in its own right and is certainly not "garbage". You'd have to have a fairly extreme overvolt and/or poor case airflow to hit 90C outside of Furmark, so I'm not sure what's up with that.

OK, I'm getting closer to making my decision. A friend suggested I get this card.

Gigabyte

It is a bit out of my range but I have had the 8800GT for at least 4 years I think so whatever I buy now will have to last me about the same. I don't have to always have the latest and greatest.

But since I am normally an eVga guy, I saw this one.
eVga

Still a little high but slightly doable.

Any opinions? I think I am going to have to stick with Nvidia at this point.

Wow, you're really stepping up the price range. I think most people would recommend the faster HD6950 over a GTX560 at that price.

By the way, you haven't quite had that 8800gt for 4 years...it came out in Oct. 2007 (which is when I bought one!).

Thanks Termie. Yeah, i'm thinking of going a little over my original price. Still not 100% but leaning hard.

And I was just going by memory on my 8800GT. I did get it close to release, I think. And honestly, it isn't doing a bad job now but I know things can get much smoother.

Still skeptical on ATI/AMD so hopefully that doesn't ruffle any feathers.

At 1920x1200 the 6950 2gb is a much better buy for you, I've seen them as low as $229 AR in the past few weeks. If you were at 1680x1050 then the 560 would be great, but at the higher resolution you'll get a better gaming experience and longer usable card lifetime with the 6950 2gb.

Both of those cards are great deals with 2 free games. I like the windforce cooler and the factory overclock (900 core) on the Gigabyte for 244$ and NO REBATE. A gtx560 is plenty for 1900x1080, please don't let anyone tell you different. The Gigabytes 10% factory overclock should make it faster or at least even with the 6950 in most cases anyway.
