Hello Everyone

I want to upgrade my current PC so it can go on for at least 4 more years
I use my PC for a lot of Web Browsing, watching Movies and a little bit of Adobe Photoshop CS4. My current PC have

Processor Intel Core 2 Duo E8200
RAM Corsair XMS2 DHX DDR2 800MHz 2GB
Motherboard Intel DG33FB

I was thinking of replacing the processor with Core 2 Quad adding more RAM and a SSD Drive

What do guys think i should do upgrade to quad core or do i have better options?

An SSD will make it feel like twice the system and I feel it's always a reasonable upgrade, but I have to ask - are you unhappy with the performance of you current hardware? I don't think CS4 will run any slower in 4 years than it does now, your dollar will just go farther the longer you wait.

I'm reluctant to recommend anyone buy DDR2 right now, and a Q6600 costs about the same as a Sandy Bridge i3.

Don't buy DDR2 or a C2Q new, only buy them used. If you can find 2x2GB DDR2 for ~$20 and a Quad for $80 or so, that upgrade would make sense. Anything more and it'd be a better idea to replace the whole shebang with a new Sandy/Ivy Bridge setup.

An SSD will remove the biggest performance bottleneck in your system, and the SSD can be carried over to a new system. Samsung 830 128GB for $120.

The cpu you have came out in Q1 2008, so it's 4 years old. Trying to ask the computer to go for another 4 even with upgrades is probably not a good use of your funds, especially if you are using more demanding programs like CS4. You're probably best saving that money that you were going to spend for a whole new comp or new mobo/ram/cpu/gpu later this year or sometime next year.

I would add another 2gb and see if you can get your hands on a used C2Q. But be careful q9450 and above still go for quite a lot. You might be able to find a Q6600 for around 70$
