Upgrading to 2GB RAM

See my setup in my sig. I currently have 2x512 Mushkin DDR 433 PC3500. I want to upgrade to 2GB. Can I just buy a stick of 1gb PC3500 and have 512+512+1gb=2gb? Would PC3200 work?

Basically what do I need to watch out for in terms of compatibility, and whats the best way to get to 2gb?

The best setup, assuming dual channel, would be 2x1GB, but that setup should be fine.

It is, which would make 1x2GB the best setup, but I'm not sure it's supported. Even if it is, it's unreasonably expensive. Just stick with your original plan.

PC3200 will work, but if you auto-detect the RAM settings, it will default the entire memory subsystem to the slower speed. You can probably manually set it to a higher speed. Good luck.

op - you will be just fine. whenever i run ram that have different speeds/tiimings, i go into the bios and manually set the timings/speed to the slowest of the ram. remember, fast ram can run at slow speeds/timngs but slow ram can't always run out faster speeds/timings without additonal voltage, so i would set it all to pc3200 and the slowest set.
