Using PCI Express

This is my first time using PCI Express, and I know this is a very basic question but....


are there any special cables I will be needing once I recieve my cards? I will be running dual cards, so will I need some sort of splitter to connect the two cards into one monitor connection?

Your motherboard should come with an SLI bridge that you connect to the two cards. Make sure the two cards are the exact same thing also.

Also, your PSU will need either 2 PCIe power connectors (6-pin) or 4 spare Molex connectors, because PCIe graphics cards need their own power. Make sure of that also.

do all PCI-e cards use it's own power connector? I don't think my eVGA 6600gt does.

Not all cards need extra power. The 6600GT doesnt need extra power connectors, but Im pretty sure all the 6800/7800 cards do.
