Utility to check HD?

I have two 40 gig drives in this system. One of them has started to make some really ugly noises (not sure which one) and I suspect it won't last long. Most important stuff was moved to another system. Looking for a utility to check HD health - is there such a thing?

IBM, Western Digital, Maxtor and Seagate all have tools to do this on their sites.

Everyone else just uses OnTrack...

also, check out speedfan. It can report SMART status, and is overall a pretty useful app, even if you only use for CPU monitoring
