V6 Mustangs are chicks' cars

or so it seems. the majority of people that i see driving v6 mustangs are women. why is that? aren't mustangs supposed to be guy cars? ladies, your input would be appreciated.

most of the V8 mustangs that i've seen have been driven by guys.

The base model Mustangs seem to be chick cars to me. Everyone I've ever know that has owned one has been a girl, and I see a ton of girls driving them.

I rented a V-6 Mustang a while back and it was not too bad. Even the V-6 has enough torque to get the back end moving on tight turns, which is fun since I primarily drive a FWD car. I can't imagine buying one, though.

For some reason the transmission on the V-6 Mustangs is located too far forward, so they have to use a strange bent shifter to get the shifter knob into the right location (this may be true on the V-8s too for all I know). I had bought a venti coffee at Starbuck's and was pulling away happily in first with the cup in the cup holder - as soon as I shifted into second it crushed the cup, leaving me (or at least the friendly folks at Dollar Rent-a-Car) with a huge mess. Doh!

anything with less than 170hp certainly is a girly car.

agreed, the girls dont care about the power or going fast, they just want to 'look good' in a 'cute' car. I think the base stangs look shi++y though. A guy looking for a Mustang is going to go balls to the wall and get the V8. Otherwise its just a waste.

mustangs look pretty sh*tty to me. eclipses look much cuter. (i should know, i own one) the only mustangs that i like are the SVTs and the saleen custonms.

I've got a black 99 GT, and it's a beauty... I won't even let my girlfriend drive it actually... That's all I need, her driving a stick in the rain with waaaayyyy too much power... Absolutely love the car though... My buddy just got a 2000 V6 and to someone who is not used to power, it feels fast...to me, it feels slow, floaty, and doesn't make me grin like a stupid asshole everytime I nail it...

Mustangs rock... and outsell Camaros/TA's 2-1 COMBINED....

I won't use the term I usually use for V6 Firebirds/Cameros/Mustangs. Yes, they are wimpy sports cars. Most of them are driven by high school aged teenager girls simply due to the fact that they like knowing they drive a sports car

There are sedans that easily take these things to school and when modded challenge the bigger V8 brethern.

steelnewfie - nice... i mean, if you're gonna get a mustang, GET A MUSTANG. i almost got one myself, but the interior's not as comfy. i can't wait to get a turbo for my car. it'll push me in the 5s. THEN i can challenge the big boys.

i forgot to reply to that. i have the eclipse GT - 6cyl, faster than a 6cyl mustang. and MUCH more comfortable too. but i get my ass handed to me against the big boys.

Hey, I'm gonna do 5's in the quarter as soon as I figure out how to keep the JATO from flying off my car when lit!

Edit: Tuffguy top fuel funny cars do the 1/4 in high 4s-low 5s, top fuel dragsters do it in mid-high 4s. But they're out of the scope of this thread

Why turbo a car like that? That just adds $ to the totaly which you could have better spent to finance its V8 brother.

NOS is a far better idea for Mustangs/Cameros/Firebirds.

I would buy a V6 mustang for 3 reasons:

1) Mileage (difference between v6 and v8 isn't that massive though)

2) insurance!

3) Difference in price between 6 and 8 is pretty big...especially in CAN $

a turbo v6 is quicker than a stock v8. just like a turbo v4 is quicker than a stock v6. add NOS and then watch out... the reason why i bought my car is because i like the way it looks/feels better. personal taste i guess. the only mustang i drool over is the saleen custom. and i especially like the fake air intakes and the mustangs.

I agree that a Turbo6 would be quicker than a stock 8 - however, your still left to upgrade suspenion/transmission/other critical engine components. Just more of a hassle.

Contrary to popular belife, NOS is very safe if used correctly. Just make sure you have a bottle warmer.

Then by that definition Ford hasn't made a manly Mustang in about 3 decades. The 320 HP '99 Cobra didn't make the advertised horsepower, so it doesn't count. The '99 also had some many problems that they didn't make a 2000. (I know someone would bring that up, so I just wanted to shoot that down right away.)

Most people buy the V6 for cheaper insurance. Also, maybe they live in an area where they would never get to open it up anyway. Or the car is mainly for the wife who doesn't care about the power, but some people have their reasons.

The 99 and up Mustangs have got to be one of the ugliest cars out. Its also is one of the slowest for the class it is in. A GT with only 260hp. Give me a break. They are definitely a girls car.

Slower than what FormulaV8 ??? Yeah, the camaro and TA 5 speed will beat the 99GT by 0.2 sec to 0-60 (5.2vs5.4)... If you have an automatic, forget it, if you blink at the light, forget it..The Mustang handles better, stops better, and in my opinion looks better...What other cars do you consider &quot;faster&quot; in it's class ??

Well if we are talking girly and manly, I would say anthing less then 300hp and 500 lbs torgue is a girly car, but then again that is just me.
