OMG I was careful, wait that doesn't do it justice, I was very very very careful and eased the pins back to shape. I was then able to get the CPU back into the motherboard. That was a close one for sure.

Of course now I have a dead video card......such a god damn PITA.

i got it today and its labeled

I'm a little bothered by the fact that yesterday this chip showed up in the photo as a "BW" and today that area of the photo is blanked out!

Anyone else on this???

eWiz is a really good company, you'll get what you order don't worry.

I sent an RMA request to Monarch for my video card, does anyone know how good their RMA process is? I've only had to RMA with Newegg before, and they are first class for sure.

I just talked to Becky at eWiz and she assured me that my chip was ordered as a BW and will come as a BW.
However, I note that they have hammered my credit card and have yet to ship. (Although that may be a good sign.)

from what ive read the XGP interface is based on the 33MHz PCI bus, not an independent AGP interface. As such, you can't expect much performance out of it. Sure, it'll handle the latest video cards, but at PCI speeds.

yep anandtech ran tests which showed the biostar agp as being really subpar, and the pcie performance is also off the other nf4 ultra boards. the ULi chipset is supposed to have true agp and pcie support, and anandtech liked the performance of the reference board, but it's gonna be out around october, and I decided not to wait that long.

PCI speeds are probably good enough for me as I can't see the extra $300 to move up to X16.

The Biostar would have run your x800xl as it has to comply with the nForce4 standard with a compliant PCI-E slot.

Don't forget the $300 x16 video card.
Previously, I had stacked a 3000+ on an nForce3 Ultra (MSI K8N NEO2 PLATINUM) and was very disappointed. Wouldn't overclock, very unstable, driver issues, poor support from MSI... and so forth.

That's why I wanted to try the nForce4 Ultra platform. I really wanted the Gigabyte with the 1394b (800 Firewire) but didn't want the $300 hit on the video in addition to everything else. Going the nForce4 route, I couldn't keep it under a $grand$. (Well, maybe I could, but to deprive myself...)

Just a heads-up...
On Overclockers, there are two "BW"s listed in the 3000+ section.

Both are at 1.6 v. and
the YBBLE0523CPBW is running 2700 on a MSI K8N NEO4 PLATINUM SLI w/COOLERMASTER VORTEX air.

The CBBHD0450UPBW is running 2871 on a DFI NF4 Ultra D (9x319htt) w/XP-90 air.
If these reports are to be believed, this is a serious overclock.
