PSOD? lol.....that's a new one to me. well 2915 at least for now only lasts about an hour in prime95. I'll bump up the voltage a tiny bit more when I get home from work and see what it can do then.

According to Zebos calculations it would be closer to a 5ghz P4!!!

factor is 1.57 x clock speed to EQUAL P4....Mine is only 1.55 since I dont have the added cache and it would take a 4.1ghz P4.....

Now in gaming that would likely be very true..not true in encoding apps....almost as true in some CAD apps...math and science apps very likely...At 2.66ghz winnie I would be like a 4100+ PR rating.... So Zebo is not too far off...

At 3.245ghz you would be like a FX61, and FX55 in many apps would take a 4ghz P4 and still not win in some....Do to IPC your gain in clockspeed will always mean more then same amount of speed on the P4 pressie.... You are 625mhz over stock FX55 and that would be like a 950mhz with the P4 or like a 3.8@4.75ghz except for the fact the 3.8 P4 doesn't win much of the time now....I would definitely say closer to 5ghz in gaming....

From my other thread: (LBBLE... thats all I remember before I put the xp-90 on it)

Setup:
Venice 3200+ on DFI nforce 4 ultra d (latest bios)
xp-90 w/ AS5 + Panaflo M1A fan
OCZ modstream 450 (26A on 12v, voltages don't jump all over the place on smartguardian during Prime95, so I doubt that power will be an issue)
TwinMos TMII400 (I was unlucky, they aren't the good kind, but still rated at 2.5 3 3 8 at ddr400)

I've got the chip to 2.7ghz (270x10) with voltages at 1.5x110%. HTT at 3x. Actual smartguardian and cpuid reading in XP is 1.61v. Memory is set at 150 (202mhz, but cpuid indicates 193mhz). Memory is set to auto, so its just 2.5 3 3 8. Smartguardian reports idle cpu temps at 28C, with load at 42C. I'm not sure if this is accurate as it seems kind of low and maybe too good to be true. Either way, I've touched the xp-90 and its just slightly warm under load. I doubt it could be heat.

Prime95 fails after 4 hours, so I'm still tweaking it at around 2.7. I'm pretty confident I can get it stable at this overclock.

I was just reading a topic in another forum and they are talking about Newcastle's that reach 2800mhz, because they fave fx-55 core's..... Anyone else heared about this?

This makes 5/5 sites that get above 2800Mhz

The other four

Xbit Labs

PC Perspective

Legit Reviews

Lost Circuits

ALL AIR!!!

I must be missing something or doing some wrong. 2.7ghz is almost stable with cpu volts at 1.61v. Using memory divider to put my ddr400 below 200mhz. I haven't increased chipset voltage at all, might try that next....

Can we say "Cherry Picked"!

You can be certain that the chips sent to these reviewers where hand picked and tested. this is a commonly known practice. How many duds did you see in Winchester reviews? None

I can't tell ya anything about Neoseeker's chip because they never showed the chip or stated the week/production code, and the Xbit article won't come up for me right now. But look at the other 3 chips reviewed here:

PC Perspective - ABBLE 0504DPAW
Legit Reviews - ABBLE 0505BPMW
Lost Circuits - ABBLE 0504DPAW

All week 4 or 5 pre production samples!! Xbit's was pretty early too IIRC... Honestly Z, I don't think these reviews tell us what to expect out of anything more than a fraction of what's out there for the Average Joe to buy. Don't get me wrong I don't think the results from street chips so far are awful, they're averaging better than Winchester (esp. CBBID!) but let's face it, these chips that'll do 2.8-2.9+ on air aren't the rule

Well, the legit review link was from a forum post. I assume he bought it at a regular retailer.

Review posted 4/15, that means he must have got the chip at least a couple days before that. Now, who had Venice in stock and shipping 3 weeks ago?

Know what you mean. Just saw your post after I replied, so I guess legit reviews got a cherry picked one as well.

I think one or two reviews said they hit 2.8 on default voltage! I can't get past 2.5 with default on mine.

I agree. They seemed either cherry picked or ABBLE's "happen" to be better. I think we need a "Consumer Reports" for PC's to weed that out. Well we do in a way...right here

I got 2.5 on default voltage from my venice.. but havent tried higher yet.. stupid MSN messenger.. ppl keep bugging me. Will report.

Lovin' 2.5ghz on 1.36v or whatever. Good enough for me!

We'll turn on the divider and see what she'll do higher tho.. then pump about 1.7vcore into it.

What most ppl dont realize is that memory settings make ALL the difference.

Read and do this if you are on DFI link

Just to give a comparison to the winchester.. I could not even get into windows @2.5ghz unless I ran 1.7vcore!
Bios is reporting 1.36vcore on this 2.5oc.

K i got some results for everyone.

ADA3200DAA4BP
LBBLE 0516EPGW
Z639006D50408

Default volts (1.36vcore)- 2.6ghz (if you put my results in the OP, use these plz)
1.55vcore- 2.6
1.67vcore- 2.8 (if you put my results in the OP, use these plz)
1.72vcore- 2.8
Did not want to try higher voltages than 1.72v. Usually chips top out after a certain voltage, 1.7 is a good place to stop from the results I've seen.. but I certainly could pull over 2.8 with more voltage.
I do 5mhz fsb bumps so thats as close as it gets. No 1mhz bumps here. I go 160fsb, to 165fsb ect. to get my maximum overclock. Sorry.
Used the lowest divider in any results above 250fsb to take the memory completely out of the equation.

On temps, I must say IMPRESSIVE. At 1.72vcore I was idling at 42C. On the Winchester 3200+@1.7vcore I idled at 55c.

I dont know how much of this is attributable to the Venice core, or the Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 cpu cooler. But nice improvement either way.

I am running this at 250mhz fsb, x10 multi, 4x HT (1000HTT), 1.36vcore, 2.9mem volt.
I'll likely run benchmarks at 2.8ghz, but this low voltage and easy to run 2.5ghz daily.. I might go to 2.8ghz daily.. we'll see

I never messed with chipset voltage or the other settings when doing the overclocking.

WAY better compared to my Winchester.. very similar results to the early Winchesters.. but with better temps and SSE3. Nice!

CBBID 0451 ????? very suspicioius. Sounds like a winchester to me. The date is even earlier then the preview Venices that were shipped to reviewers........
in the other hand the results are anything but a winchester, certainly not a CBBID winchester....so something here is fishy. I officially put this under a red flag until we get proof
