I know a lot of you guys have seen it all please tell me what to do.

WINDOWS 2000 question, keep having error
Windows 2000 keeps giving me blue screen with error, I recorded it this time dont know if it is same as previous times. Can anyone decipher.

***STOP 0x0000000a (0x00000028,0x00000000,0x8044dd7d)
IRQ not less or equal

Address 8044dd7d base at 80400000, Date stamp 3ee6e002- ntoskrnl.exe

begining dump of physical memory

I think it is an IRQ conflict, my dial up modem and video card share same IRQ 19, wont let me change. Is that a conflict.
Also my diplay adapters got 9600 radeon, and 9600 radeon secondary. Is that normal.

Ok i am new to building machine, first one. I am running
nf7-s
512mb pc3200 geil ram
9600se sapphire
2500+
80 gig seagate serial ata

Ok here is a problem I am also having pc wont display on boot up occasionally, have to remove and reseat video card. THen it boots up but directly after gives me an error tryin to write to read only memory. Reboot the mahcine then it gives me error of trying to read from **** i forget something bout the hard drive. I reboot then machine reboots itself on boot up about 3 times. Then runs fine. It seems like machine runs great as long as it has been on for a little bit, its just when it is first turned on. Also where do I check the version of my chipset driver. and when I loaded my drivers on install I just told it to look at cd every time it asked for a driver. Took several boot ups for it to notice network card tho. And where do I go to get that driver cleanup util. Last question is there a program that will check online for any current drivers for all devices. Sorry bout the long post. Lots of questions. OH just bought system 1 week ago from New Egg.
Now it just shut down and said something bout usb driver.

First I would go in and set the bios to "Bios defaults". Also try setting the memory to cas3. Turn off all integrated peripherals such as com ports, onboard sound, etc. See if that fixes the problem. If so turn them back on one at a time. In Safe mode remove both the Radeons from dvice manager and reboot to normal mode and let the system redect it. Check in the bios to see what temp your cpu is running at. That is how I would start on this problem

Get the updated nforce 2 drivers from Nvidia's site and use those instead of the ones from the CD. Then go to abit's site and get the other drivers. Try your memory in different slots if you just got one stick. I have a feeling it's your memory. What's your bios settings?

heh, i am having very similar problems as you are. I had my newly built system (2500+ nf7-s) running perfectly for a week, then 5 min after i was in windows it would reset for an unknown reason. now i cant get winxp installed because i keep getting different errors (the ntfs, irq, and a few others i cant remember at the moment)

Try, as Tech suggested, lowering the ram timing(CAS 3) or increase voltage to ram. If that doesn't work, try increasing voltage to cpu. Definitely make sure all drivers are up to date and check for a newer version of the BIOS.

Just wondering if you removed the modem & tried booting. If the modem is not plug & play it could be part of the problem.

My 2¢ worth:

  • Manually set the RAM to run at DDR333 speed so it is not running out-of-sync with your CPU's bus
  • Manually set the RAM voltage to 2.7 volts
  • Manually set the RAM's timings to some relaxed timings as was already suggested
  • Ask yourself how good the quality of your power supply is. Quality is an entirely different thing from wattage, so if you're not sure how good it is, post the brand/model/wattage for us.
  • Confirm that your ATX12V auxiliary power cable is plugged into the motherboard
  • If trouble persists, run Memtest86 on the system overnight and see if it gets errors (Memtest86)
  • Also confirm that you got the heatsink on the right way
Hope that helps By the way, the IRQ thing is normal for Win2000/XP, there's even a FAQ about that.

Additional helpage: avoid using the top or bottom PCI slots on the NF7-S, particularly since you're using the SATA controller, which shares its IRQ with the top and bottom PCI slots.

I had this issue as well. WAs driving me nuts.

Download MemTest86 and run it on your system. If you get any errors on your ram (and assuming you have changed nothing) then you probably have bad ram. My fried ram was due to my daughter repeatedly flipping off the UPS whlie I was using the computer. Eventually just fried the ram.
PS: I hid the UPS well under my desk.

WOW, that totally fixed my problem, thanks. but does that mean my ram (3200) can only handle 333mhz? because it was fine for a week at 400

Glad to hear it helped The bigger picture is that nForce2 performs best when the memory and CPU are both using the same bus speed. This synchronous operation results in better performance than if you have the memory and CPU running at two different speeds. Think about if you were in a line of people passing oranges down the line, and the person on your left hands you six, but the person on your left will take two, then eight, then two, then eight... you have to juggle the extras in the meantime. Not optimal.

It might be that your RAM just needed the voltage bump, though.

I'd say update your drivers first and make sure you have the right one. If that doesn't work, check your BIOS settings (try default). If that doesn't work, mess around with your ram (timings, O/C, voltage, slots, etc.). If that doesn't help, try getting another stick of ram... see if that works out. Other than that, it could be most anything... (reinstall windows maybe?)

Yea I have my ram at 2.0 cas set autmatically, but I am going to manually configure it when I get home. I just installed win2k and I am having svchost error which I know is from worm, and I did virus scan, didnt find any. And on 1 of my reboots it said something bout the registry, I ran memtest for 24 hours no problems. Like I said I am going to do everything yall said about the bios settings tonite. But do you think its possible I got a bad win2k cd.
