PROBLEM SOLVED
Hi fellas,
I have Comcast as my ISP and I am on their 8mbps down / 768 kbps up plan. Anyways, I use a RCA cable modem and a Linksys Wireless Router (WRT54G). I wanted to leave my laptop at home and connect to it from work with remote desktop as I have done before (not at this apartment/this laptop). Anyways, so I set up remote desktop, create users, etc. and go to http://www.whatismyip.com to get my ip. I note down the IP on my notepad and go to work. When I get to work, I type in the IP and don't get any response. It doesn't even ask for login/pass. So I try pinging it and it doesn't respond. So I figure, maybe my connection went dead or something. So I come home last night and everything is perfectly fine, my IP is the same... weird. So today, I go back to work and it still doesn't work. What is the problem here? I don't have any firewalls except the Windows one, which is set to enabling remote connections.
So what is the problem here?
Oh and one more thing, when I go to a forum I moderate, I check my IP on there and its the same IP as what http://www.whatismyip.com gives... so that IP must be correct? Can anyone help me? Thanks!
