VIA 4in1 or not?

Just one question: do I need to intall VIA 4in1 drivers in my
new comp. (not for gaming)?

Duron 700
ATI Xpert98 (PCI)
Maxtor Diamond 40+
WIN ME

I won't use AGP or ATA100, some of VIA drivers are included in
WIN ME, so do I need 4in1 at all?

If you want to have any chance of your PC running remotely stable I'd highly recommend installing those drivers.

my comp was stable before the 4 in ones, but it was slow as ALL hell. 2000 in 3dmark for the system below is NOT acceptable, i now get over 6700.

My system was working fine... then installed the 4 in 1, and some other IDE thing to get my harddrives to go in DMA mode. Now my computer won't finish booting because there's a problem with the Systemced file anyone want to help? Here's the thread: http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.cfm?catid=34&threadid=305937

I would install them,it will increase stability,btw there is only a few people having problems with them,most people in general don`t get problems with the Via drivers.
