Hunting deer is legal and dog fighting is not because Dogs are man's best friend and everyone feels all warm and cuddly about them. Nobody cares about deer because they're wild animals. End of story. If he'd tortured and killed deer, and made them fight each other just for poops and giggles, he probably wouldn't go to jail, but he'd still be a worthless piece of crap. I'm not lumping hunters into that statement because they don't generally torture the deer, or make them fight each other.

#1. I said he did it for money AND fun. I have no doubt he'd have run the thing for free. However, he DID gamble on it, which he obviously knew was illegal as well. He obviously doesn't need the money, but he was still gambling, which by definition means he was trying to win money from it. I mean, dude, this isn't complicated stuff.

#2. Just when I think you can't get any dumber! Animal Control is killing the dogs because Michael Vick and his crew turned them into unstable, unadoptable dangerous creatures. And guess what, I'm willing to bet animal control isn't going to kill them by hanging and drowning them. Call me an optimist!

Animal control puts to sleep a lot of dogs that aren't wanted. Not just fighting dogs. These dogs outlived their usefulness and were killed. On the flip side, if these weren't fighting dogs, they would probably not even have been born or would have been killed by animal control long ago.
Just because someone gambles on fights, doesn't mean they do it for the money, just to make it more fun. I play in Vegas a lot, and I don't really care that much if I win or lose, but it's more fun to play for money. You really have no clue about anything, yet you go about acting holier than thou supporting putting a person in jail for what he did to his own property.

If they weren't fighting dogs, they wouldn't have been put down by animal control in the first place because they were somebody's PET. If they'd been strays, animal control would've humanely put them down, sure. Thank God Michael Vick was around to give them a nice comfortable home where other dogs would tear their faces off. Here you go with your strawman arguments. I get that it's against the law, and I am not advocating people break the law, but we should not have laws that restrict people's freedom to do things that don't infringe on the rights of others. Dogfighting is one of those things. Drug, gambling, and vice laws are as well.
If you let every idiot who claims high moral ground dictate his way to you, then pretty soon you are going to give up all your freedoms. You let Christian conservatives write morality laws, animal lovers write "animal rights" laws, mothers against drunk driving write drinking age laws, etc. Then you will criminalize things that don't harm anyone else, and unnecessarily restrict freedoms of the people, plus waste government resources prosecuting and punishing conduct that wasn't otherwise harmful to any person.

i just heard his "apology", and yeh, the "I found Jesus" part really seemed fed to him.
also, i'm not so sure that he's actually sorry for what he did, but he's sorry for the repercussions of getting caught.
