Vid Card Buying. Need Help

I am thinking of updating my vid card but can't really decide what is better for my system (compatibility and such) I have used ATI in nearly everything I have ever owned and it works well for me. I am wondering however if NVidia would be a better choice (compatability wise) for my system. The current high profile games I use would be WOW, Half-Life 2 (and it's offspring), and Halo. My current ATI works well with WOW, pretty good with HL2 but crappy with Halo. Here's my system as built.

Intel P4 2.4GHz
1.5GB RAM DDR2700
Dual LCD 19"
30GB HDD at 10K
100GB HDD at 7200
450W PSU

Either ATI or NVIDIA would work for your system. It comes down to how much you want to spend and if you have AGP or PCIe

I have AGP and I'm willing to spend between $100-$250

Grab yourself a 7600gt agp anything more will be overkill for your cpu.

A Radeon X1950 Pro AGP may be suitable for your needs... assuming you can find one.
Otherwise, a GeForce 7800GS AGP may be your next best alternative..

7800GS are about 220$ so that would be a fine choice but better look for a X1950Pro but that might be a little more expensive.

You can always go with a 7600GT for around 150-175.

This was the card I was initially looking at. Do you know whe the Xpro is coming out?

Probably in about a month. I would recommend waiting for it to come out and then buying it.

I have a 7800gs and for his cpu it would be a waste of money . I'm cpu limited now at 3.35 . Theres no way a 2.4 pent 4 will take advantage of anything more than a 7600gt and thats stretching it.

EDit: A 6800gt or x850pro is a good match for his cpu and about 130.00,150.00 $$
Edit 2 :: A x1950pro is a bigger waste of money. Don't throw your money away!
