Any word yet on a *FINAL* release from nVIDIA? Or as to what driver suite is most stable for a PCIe 6800 256MB with a Dell 1704FPT LCD? I play CS:Source, Far Cry...yep, that's about it.

I've said I'd update my drivers because right now with the 66.93's from nVIDIA's site, MPEG2 playback is really messed up...skips a lot and I see digital artifacts. (green squares and streaking effects) I haven't because I always seem to read about quirks with some set, one way or another. Also, people have mentioned about core GPU temps rising as well, so that has also set me back. Is there any 'perfect' version out right now that has no yellow water in Aztec and that is stable, has no MPEG2 playback issues, and is all-around 'good'?

3DChipsets has a new forceware drivers up, a big jump in numbers (I don't know about quality) from 71.81.

Forceware 75.90 Beta Link

I've download, but not tried them. It seems like a very large jump in the naming nomenclature. Could they really have changed that much? I guess we'll see what happens. Some new GPU's are listed, according to 3DChipsets. Moblie GPU's? Next Gen? Who knows? Post if you know something.

I really wish they would release a NON BETA 70.XX

I think ATI spoiled me with updates every month hehe

Yah, a non-beta 7x.xx would be nice. On the up side, I've been very happy so far with 75.90. My 3dmark03 scores are up about 2% from the latest nVidia official drivers, but what really made me happy was CS:Source.

I'd been having "memory crashes" with the official drivers but none with 75.90 after 2 1/2 hours of play. Also, the image quality seemed to have noticeable improvements, especially on the aztec map.

I'm not sure what the "temp issue" is. My PCIe 6600GT runs at about 41-42 C under load. Doesn't effect the 6600GT maybe?

Wow the 75.90's look promising. Tweaks R Us (Daishi) did you guys release the VXG Tweaked 75.90's yet?

We also have a new policy over at tweaks r us. its a No Passwords, No Adware, No B.S. policy heh none of our files will be passworded unlike guru3d.coms files and they will also not be filled with guru3d things like banners and such guru3d includes in all their files. The file and only the file you wanted will be in this download no B.S.

Pardon me if this is a n00b question, but what type of things do you tweak for when you dig around in the driver code? FPS? IQ? Stability? All of the above? Other?

I'm just wondering what to expect from your Xtreme G Drivers that is beyond the Nvidia originals. (links welcome ) Thanks.

Oh, and :thumbsup: for your new policy.

From my experience the IQ is better, the performance is pretty good and are very stable, for me the best by far.

That's because they add OpenGL 2.0 support (up from 1.5.x) which is a very big change.

I really wish they would release a NON BETA 70.XX
Same here - as a general rule nVidia beta drivers suck donkey balls and the wait time between official drivers is just too long IMO.

I'm currently using the 67.02's and have been holding out on going for any of the newer drivers as they don't have refresh rate overiding. Could someone recommend me an application to use as a substitute?

So far no problems with the 75.90's . I got a 5% boost in the cs:source video test compared to the extreme G 71.20's.

what exactly is refresh rate override? Everybody's talking about it, but I don't know what it does.

Also, has anyone done the optional 3dmark05 tests (fillrate and pixel shading etc) using the new 75.90s? For some reason, it keeps dumping out, saying "Monitor Lost Focus." I never had this error with any other betas, is this a problem with openGL support? Other than that, I like the new drivers, and as soon as Riddick gets patched to allow for OpenGL 2.0, I'll have no qualms about recommending them.

Refresh rate override forces the computer when run at a specified resolution to override all other commands and use a user specified refresh rate.

I thought Chronicles of Riddick was a Direct X game.

Thermal, If you want "Refresh Rates Override" you can install the latest official drivers (69.03 I think). AFAIK betas don't include this feature. I haven't tried the latest one though. Gamingphreek said it has it. So you can try that one.

Yep im running it now: 75.90 btw. Refresh Rate Override is there.

As for the game im not sure but i would assume it is DX game, as not too many games use OGL these days. CoD IIRC is based off of the heavily modified Q3 Engine which is OGL also DIII is OGL with some DX features.

Riddick is definitely Doom3 based. I think the PC version uses the Doom3 engine, and the Xbox version uses the other, older engine. From what I've heard, when they ported the game to PC, they decided that they might as well make it look nice, since PCs aren't saddled with a 733MHz PIII/Celeron and GeForce 3 graphics like the XBox, so they could handle something better.

I'm fairly certain it's OpenGL which is why it's having problems. The OpenGL string has changed and Riddick is obviously not parsing it correctly.

I don't know where you got this information from. But I am sorry to prove you wrong, it doesn't use the Doom3 engine, their engine is called Starbreeze Engine Technology © (2002 - 2004 Starbreeze AB.) and it's a DX game.
