With the 72.81 driver, for some reason starcraft has about 10 columns of pixels that should be on the right side shifted to the left. Very strange.

EDIT: 75.90 did the trick

slaimus, 71.84 fixes the problem too. If you have any problems with the 75.90s (which i did) you can go down to 71.84.

Anyone here do any bios flashing or tweaking?

I know it's not too safe, but if it worth it? What gains do you get from flashing bios to another version with gfx cards.

Glad this guy posted this topic, I downloaded the 71.84 forceware from eVGA's site and it really does work. I bought a 6800 Ultra to replace a 6800 OC that I had squeezed every ounce of speed from, and wasn't too happy about the performance deltas I was getting with the Ultra card, which ran $150 more. I tried out the new drivers on XP Pro first and it ripped on the benchmarks, getting them closer to where they should be. Then I decided to risk my main platform (Win2K) with the update and no pain.

Just remember that benchies aren't everything they're cracked up to be; the key thing is everyday performance and stability. However, I think I've finally got this puppy licked.

1 Maxtor 250gig sata, that wont fing work with this board

Dude, that is a serious machine. Getting the SLI board was a good decision. If I'd held off for a few more weeks I probably would have gone the same route.... Maybe you could try another SATA drive or plug the drive into another SATA port?

has anyone tried 3dmark05 with all the optional test, like the "feature" tests, enabled with 75.90? Mine crashed on that part of the test, saying "Monitor Lost Focus." All other drivers work fine. I'm using a 6600GT, btw.

I have upgraded from the 66.93s to the 71.24s and I am still getting MPEG2 video playback issues. With PowerDVD, the system will hang if I do much outside playing the video. I have hardware acceleration enabled in PDVD5.

Do I need to use nVIDIA's DVD Decoder? Is this a PureVideo issue?

Please advise, thanks!

EDIT: A temporary solution I have found is to install the K-Lite Mega Codec pack (1.16) and use Media Player Classic for my .M2V files. Works like a charm! No problems!

I did not install a 3rd party MPEG2 decoder. I think MPC is still using PowerDVD's codecs, IIRC.

hey solstice, i think there was a firmware issue with the DM10 drives when used on the nforce4 platform (not sure if it's the platform or just the SATA-II controller). I used to have the 300GB version, then it just disappeared from BIOS. It reappeared like once later on, and then it was gone for good. So I RMAd it. Anyways, I think there is an updated firmware for the drives, and it should fix the problem. Of course, you'll have to plug the drive into a PC that can actually READ it first, so find a buddy with open SATA ports, I guess. Also, grabbing the latest BIOS might help. Oh, and BTW, I used to have an A8N-SLI too, RMA'd it because of the problem, then got the VNF4/Ultra, and the problem was there again, so it's not a problem with that board in particular or anything like that. And if you do get the drive to work, I've heard you need to plug the drive into port 3 or 4 because 1 and 2 aren't locked, and will likely fail with the FSB speeds you're running at.

Dont use the 71.24's. Use the 75.90's. I would highly recommend the Xtreme G 75.90's. They are tweaked, include coolbits, and fix numerous problems with the reference drivers.

You do not need Nvidia's DVD Decoder as PVDV5 is a software decoder. If you didn't install that you need a decoder in order to watch through WMP. Basically WMP feeds off of the decoders of others.

Am I the only one who's had problems with beta drivers? Even WHQL ones. When I start up, the screen turns off and on several times before finally settling in. This has happened on every driver set I've tried, except for the latest official ones.

Update: New Xtreme G Drivers. A big thanks to Daishi for all the work he puts into these.

Link

Take the time to support their forum as well seeing as they support AT.

Gains of up to 10fps are reported in HL2, Battle For MIddle Earth; also all bugs with the reference drivers are fixed.

XG 71.84 seem to be the very best set out there. IQ is superb and so is performance, my favourite.... SC 3 works correctly also, with much better IQ and gained 1 or 2fps.

71.90 drivers are released. Anyone willing to test. This looks like the last beta before an Official release.

Gonna throw in another good word for the 71.20 drivers. My 3Dmark05 score increased from 3250 to 3506 on my eVGA 6600GT.

Noticeable increase in FPS while playing Colin McRae Rally 2005 at 1280x1024, no AA/AF.
