Video card woes

Old card: MSI Radeon RX9800 Pro (AGP)
New card: BFG 6800 OC 128MB (AGP)

OK, so here's what happened. I got the 6800 and installed it, booted up Windows fine and everything, but my PC was crashing in BF2 and now Black and White 2, with weird texture errors. I talked to BFG a few times and they have issued me an RMA. So obviously I have to use the old card in the time being, esp. as my mobo has no onboard video. Here's the problem. I uninstalled the nVidia drivers and turned off my PC...swapped the cards and when I got past my bootskin I got a no-input message from my monitor. This happens consistently. I am able to get into safe mode (from which I'm posting this) but I can't boot into Windows normally. I swapped the cards back (to the BFG card) and was able to boot Windows normally, so I did that and used Driver Cleaner to erase all nVidia drivers from my system. I swapped the cards back, still got the problem, changed all my BIOS settings back from what I'd changed them to to try and get the BFG card working, still got the problem, booted into safe mode and installed ATI drivers, still got the problem. I also at some point ran msconfig and made sure there was nothing nVidia related under the Startup tab.

So, the *only* thing I can think of is that I think I changed my AGP Transfer Mode from 'Match Card' to '8x', and haven't changed it back. The reason for this is that I can't find it in my BIOS now, which makes me feel kind of stupid. I went through it several times and couldn't find the setting. I have Phoenix AwardBIOS, so if anyone has a hint for me that would be cool.

Also, if anyone has any advice in general I would really appreciate it.

Umm, I think either you didn't understand my problem or I don't understand your solution. I'm not having trouble getting into safe mode.

(Bump)

Also, I realized that I never found or changed the AGP Transfer Rate in the first place; a note I'd written myself on the piece of paper with all the settings made me think I had.

So, I guess Driver Cleaner needs to be run in Safe Mode to completely do its job. I still had a few nVidia driver files left in system32. Hope this helps someone one day.
