Here is my situation, I have a chaintech vnf-250MB and a 450watt psu that came with my case from newegg. I also had a bfg 5700ulta. The computer ran great for months. (Played Through Half-Life 2).
Then I was away for my computer for like 10 minutes one day and the screen was all messed up and the computer was locked. When I restarted the computer all I got where TONS of artifacts on the boot screen and windows would not even start unless I went in safe mode and the artifacts where so bad that I couldn't even read anything on the screen.

Tried the card on another computer to make sure that was the problem and it was. So I RMA'd the card to BFG. In the meantime I bought a XFX 6600GT AGP card from ZipZoomFly. Got the card yesterday and installed that in the computer. Everything seemed fine. Went through installing the drivers and on the reboot it did the same thing. Just a bunch of garbage on the screen during boot and in windows. Tried the card on another computer again and same thing. Another card Died! I just rma'd that card back today and stuck in a old pci card in the computer and that works fine.

Now I am afraid to put any AGP card in this computer. Could the AGP slot be killing the cards or the psu. I need help Please!

Sorry for the long post but I have been pulling my hair out over this. I don't want to kill anymore Expensive cards (I am very poor). Any help will greatly be appreciated.

What is your AGP voltage in your bios? 1.5? 1.6? Are you overclocking? You have a 66/33 lock for your agp if you are oc'ing? What revision agp slot?

I was overclocking the 5700ultra for about a year with no problem with coolbits. So I thought that was the problem but I just got the 6600GT and did nothing with it and after one reboot it did the same thing. I have the AGP voltage in the BIOS set at default which I would think would be 1.5v. I do not have the CPU overclocked. The bios was set to default and it shows the AGP slot at 66. Thanks so much for the help. Not sure about the revision on the AGP but I have the most updated Bios.

I downloaded a program from Chaintech called digidoc and to me it seems the voltage looks fine but I am no expert at that. So you guys seem to think its the AGP slot killing my cards and not the PSU. That sucks. I am going to have to get a new motherboard then. If that is the case does anyone know of any good deals on 754 slot MB (Prefered Nforce 3). and how easy will it be to transfer my CPU.

Anouther question I have is how can I AGP slot do such damage to Video Cards? I was hoping it was the PSU (Alot Cheaper). Thanks again for all the help.

Only other thing I could think of is a short somewhere. Try the motherboard out of a case. But I would just RMA the motherboard no sense taking a chance and killing another video card.

Anyone else know how a AGP slot can fry a video card. I got this motherboard because people on this forum gave it good reviews. Also what motherboard should I purchase that is going to be very reliable. Thank You
