Here is my situation, I have a chaintech vnf-250MB and a 450watt psu that came with my case from newegg. I also had a bfg 5700ulta. The computer ran great for months. (Played Through Half-Life 2).
Then I was away for my computer for like 10 minutes one day and the screen was all messed up and the computer was locked. When I restarted the computer all I got where TONS of artifacts on the boot screen and windows would not even start unless I went in safe mode and the artifacts where so bad that I couldn't even read anything on the screen.
Tried the card on another computer to make sure that was the problem and it was. So I RMA'd the card to BFG. In the meantime I bought a XFX 6600GT AGP card from ZipZoomFly. Got the card yesterday and installed that in the computer. Everything seemed fine. Went through installing the drivers and on the reboot it did the same thing. Just a bunch of garbage on the screen during boot and in windows. Tried the card on another computer again and same thing. Another card Died! I just rma'd that card back today and stuck in a old pci card in the computer and that works fine.
Now I am afraid to put any AGP card in this computer. Could the AGP slot be killing the cards or the psu. I need help Please!
Sorry for the long post but I have been pulling my hair out over this. I don't want to kill anymore Expensive cards (I am very poor). Any help will greatly be appreciated.
