CPU: AMD 64 X 2 Dual Core

Mobo: ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe Socket 939

RAM: 3GB: consisting of:
1GB - OCZ DDR PC-3200 Premier Dual Channel - 184 pins DIMM sockets support unbufferred ECC DDR400 (512 x 2) 1024MB
2GB – Corsair (2 x 1GB DDR 400MHz – 184 pins

VIDEO CARD: Nvidia GeForce 7300GS - Analog and DVI
HDD: 250GB WD
PSU: Antec 500 W
Case: Antec
Monitor: Samsung B2330H 1080p – analog, DVI and HDMI connection

I am planning to upgrade my video graphic card to make use of the HDMI connection on my TV. Since the current GPU does not have HDMI connection I am looking for a card with HDMI connection.
I wonder, whether I can add another card to the system since MBO has 2 slots for PCI e.
If so, whether any other PCI e (express) card will work with this system or both cards has to be idendtical in technical specifications ?
If it is possible how do I connect both the cards to get speedy and better performance.
I would appreciate anyone recommending any compatible graphic cards for this purpose

Quick question, does your tv have a vga port? I use mine and it works great.
I just use a dvi to vga adapter.

Edit 2: If you dont want to use the vga port or do not have one, just get something cheap like this gt220 for $40 or $20 after rebate.
It will drive both your monitor and TV.

I was thinking he wanted sound mabe over the hdmi connection, my card does that.
A dvi adapter will not do that.

My monitor has HDMI connection but I am not able to use it with the present card. That is why I was thinking to get a card with HDMI connection. Now I am confused. Even if I buy the card with HDMI connection I will end up connecting the HDMI connection in the GPU to the TV HDMI connection. So what is the purpose of having HDMI connection in the monitor.

I had a s939 4200+, 4GB DDR400 and both an 8800gts 320mb or a Radeon 3850 512mb, and it was good enough for all video and most gaming. The 4670 is right in that performance ballpark, and I assume it will be just fine for what you want.

If you just want video though, any cheap new class GPU will do for your needs.

Sorry if I missed this anywhere, but are you planning on any gaming with this new card? Should that be taken into consideration when we recommend a card? Or are you only interested in 2D PC desktop and movies and such?

No, I am not planning on any gaming. I was thinking of changing the card to use the HDMI connection on the TV because the present card does not have an HDMI connection.

Then you should consider the 40$, 20$ AR gt220, with hdmi., just like I said in post#2.

You do know they make DVI to HDMI adapters and cords right? DVI and HDMI same thing I use one for my HTPC, plug into the DVI port of the 9600GSO to the HDMI of the Samsung LCD 46", it also caries the sound (MB header SPDIF connected by cable to side of video card)

Because HDMI is electrically compatible with the CEA-861 signals used by Digital Visual Interface (DVI), no signal conversion is necessary, nor is there a loss of video quality when a DVI-to-HDMI adapter is used

Yes. Since my monitor has that feature, I am thinking why don't I make use of it. BUT if I connect GPU's HDMI to Monitor HDMI how will I connect TV's HDMI to GPU's HDMI. GPU will have only one HDMI which would be used to connect to the monitor. Will I need a HDMI splitter or different card with 2 HDMI connection. Would appreciate your advise.

Indeed it is a very good suggestion. Please tell me, when I have one DVI connection on the GPU and I use it to connect the DVI to HDMI adapter how will I be able to connect two devices, Monitor and TV from that adapter? Does it come with HDMI splitter?

I used an 8600GT for my HTPC for a while that I got for $40 on CL. The 8xxx Nvidia series has support for PureVideo, where the 7xxx series does not. I also have a bluray drive in my HTPC and my software is ArcSoft TM3, which supports DVD upscaling to 1080P by using the GPU. I now have a 9600GSO for this, since it has 96 stream processors. For using GPU hardware acceleration like PureVideo and Flash 10 and Silverlight, and high resolutions, the more stream processors the better.

Here's a better card for $59 AR, the GeForce GT 430

Fermi based, would use a lot less power and have more features, like DX11, HDMI 1.4, Blu-Ray 3D, TrueHD and DTS-HD Audio Bitstreaming Support etc.

If you bought a new card, you should pull out the old rather than using both, it would just generate extra heat with out any performance gain. Also your idel power draw would be bigger. Sell it on CL for $30 and use it for the new card!

You want TWO HDMI outputs? Haven't seen too many cards like that. Generally, there's only one HDMI output, because there's only one sound processor in the card, and HDMI carries the sound too. Plus, even if you could get a card with TWO HDMI outputs, each carrying a different sound channel, you would run into the limitation that Win7 only wants to use a single sound device at a time.

If you don't care about the sound going to two devices at once, then you could easily use a DVI-to-HDMI adaptor for the one that doesn't recieve the sound. Electrically, DVI and HDMI video are the same signal, or something like that.

So just grab a card with an HDMI, and a DVI, output, and use a DVI-to-HDMI adaptor for the second. But if that second connection is to your monitor, without sound, and it already has a DVI port too, then you might as well just use a DVI-D cable, there is no real advantage to using the HDMI there.
