"Virtual" dual screen on single screen?

Hi, hopefully the message title makes sense. I have a 22", for general usage there really isn't much benefit over my 17".

What would help me would be to run two desktops "virtual dual screen", splitting my monitor vertically down the middle. Being able to throw windows to either half of the monitor easily would be great.

Tried google searching but got a lot of true dual screen related stuff, seems as though this can be done in Linux, but that doesn't help me 🙂

Does anyone have any idea how this could be achieved in XP? Any 3rd party software that could achieve this?

I'm not sure that I see the point...

Can't you resize windows and do that manually?

jjones - Thanks, works very close to how I imagined, just wish it worked a bit more like Ultramon.

TSDible - It's a workaround, but that would make me even less prductive doing all that fiddling, in practice it doesn't work very well.

I've tried XP's "Tile Windows Vertically" but this also wasn't satisfactory.
